The Best Destination

I've been a customer at The Loopy Ewe for many years, but have only been visiting in person since 2013. I finally remembered to take a few photos during my most recent visit.

It's so much larger and well-stocked with row upon row of lovely yarns than my photos convey. I usually concentrate on the aisles of fingering weight to avoid becoming overwhelmed, but The Loopy Ewe carries more yarn weights, fiber types, dyers, and colors than you can imagine. I've only ventured into the huge fabric section a few times to admire all the collections, and so far have successfully avoided falling down the quilting rabbit hole.

After culling and organizing my stash last summer (and there is still more to do), I tried to exercise some restraint. Ryan is an excellent yarn-picker-outer, and he helped me choose three skeins.

This is a skein of Meadowcroft Dyeworks Rockshelter Sock in Guatemalanness . I have no idea what I'll use it for (another Hitchhiker?), but loved the colors and name, along with the speckles in the light blue.

I also got two skeins of Tosh Merino Light in Stargazing. In addition to assisting with yarn choice, Ryan provides another valuable service. Here he is using natural light to match two skeins of this TML. It's tough to match Madelinetosh yarn, but he did a great job!

There is just something about shopping for yarn in person, being able to see and touch the yarn for yourself. The Loopy Ewe has great pictures on their website, but I'm not sure I would have ordered either one of the yarns I chose if I hadn't seen their vibrance and depth in person. I'm so glad I got to visit the best destination!

  1. So much yarn! I'd have a hard time narrowing down my choices!

  2. I've only been inside the Loopy Ewe once . . . and I nearly had The Vapors. (For my sister - who lives 45 minutes away - it's her LYS. I'd be out of control, I think.) Love the yarns you chose!

  6. I'd have to visit that store numerous times before I'd be able to settle down and concentrate!

  7. that's one shop on my destination bucket list! thank you for the insider photos...all I've really seen is what Sheri shares on the blog. and yes, I have to agree - NOTHING is better than seeing a yarn in person. We are fortunate we don't have to buy all our yarn on-line!
