Unraveled Wednesday: 6/4/25

I'm joining Kat and the Unravelers with yet another installment in the current Hitchhiker. I really hope this is the last still-in-progress post, but I'm still not done yet. I will keep on knitting ...

Since I talked about looking forward to my next project last week, I'll tell you a little bit about it. This is what I'll be casting on:

The pattern is Soft Current (ravelry link). The pattern says "Soft Current is knit flat as a simple rectangle. After blocking, a short 2-4 inch seam at the corner creates a soft loop that slips easily over the head and stays in place without fuss." I'm not sure whether I'll leave it as a rectangle or sew the seam to make a loop, but that decision is a long way away!

Here's the yummy yarn I'm planning on using. I haven't even dared to wind it yet.

It's a really soft combination of alpaca, silk, and cashmere in my favorite color. It's got to be something gorgeous to pull away from Hitchhikers and I have high hopes for this pattern and yarn.

I finished three books this week, so I'll be back Friday with my book reviews.

What are you making and reading this week?

  4. Well. I'm already tempted by the claim that Soft Current will "stay in place without fuss." Extra points for that, for sure! It looks really fun to knit, and I love seeing your "signature blue." It's going to be gorgeous -- as is the Hitchhiker. (I sound like a broken record. . . ) XO

  6. You are in the back stretch, Bonny! Hang in there. Your new project is very intriguing. I watched the video about how to wear it. Your yarn is gorgeous. It is fingering? I haven't knit much with fingering yarn because I am intimidated by how long it would take me to finish it. Looking forward to Friday's books reviews very much.

  8. I'm going to miss seeing the Hitchhiker when you are done. I love all those colors bouncing off each other. I just pulled out some yarn for a lacy something or other for a summer knit but it's still just sitting here. I think it's the color. It's a dull green. I need something like that vibrant blue you've got to get me motivated.

    1. As the temperature warms up, I tend to lose interest in knitting, but I'm determined to finish this Hitchhiker soon. I may also cast on some socks for summertime knitting.

  9. What a beautiful hitchhiker. You are getting to the finish line too. I have looked at the pattern for the rectangular wrap. I am eager to see how you like knitting it. The texture is so pretty. The yarn you've chosen looks wonderful. I've not heard of it previously.

  10. ok, how did the kitchen tidying go? and now after seeing this post, you're almost done with that HH and your next project is so swoon-worthy how can you wait to cast on? ... I'm sure I would've abandoned all hope of tidying :-)

  11. Soft Current looks great - I love the idea that you can just drape it over your head and not have to fuss with it. I always struggle with getting a shawl to sit just right, ya know?

  12. I am woefully behind in blog reading... Soft Current is gorgeous! And I must have thought so the first time I saw it, because it's already in my Ravelry Favorites. :) Looking forward to seeing that project progress.
