I'm only 11 teeth in, but of course I'm already anxious to see some color change. I think it will be a little while. :-)
Reading proceeds, at a slow and leisurely pace as I continue to listen to Middlemarch. I finished The Long Call and Turtles All the Way Down this week, and found both of them enjoyable. Middlemarch, a refreshing cocktail, and knitting make it easy to relax and take it easy during these hot summer days.
What are you making and reading this week?
I haven't been making a damn thing. I've got socks on the needles and that's about it and I've been ignoring them. I know I should just cast on something new and fun but I really want to finish the damn socks first. And yet I don't pick them up. At least I'm reading good things!
ReplyDeleteYou'll be happy to know that after seeing yours, I finally bought the Hitchhiker pattern this week (somehow I did not already own it!) and am planning to make one with the purple gradient yarn I just spun.
ReplyDeleteThis week I'm trying to finish my Soldotna Crop -- the body is officially done! -- and reading Twelve Years a Slave.
Ahhh, Middlemarch might be my favorite place ever!
ReplyDeleteThe John Deere Hitchhiker... best.name.ever! And, your new blank is GORGEOUS!
I love this shawl and it's only 10 teeth :) Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteJust finished the latest great library read because I was curious about what type of books they pick. It was OK, but not great. Just started James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small, and I am finding it delightful. Cast on some socks, but they are just lying in my knitting basket.
ReplyDeleteThat should be really lovely, with the colors involved. I'm just working on things a little bit at a time, since it's so stupidly hot.
ReplyDeleteOooh, that's gonna be pretty!!! (Both of them!)
ReplyDeleteSoooooooooooo close to finishing that shawl! (Motivated too!) Listening...The River by Peter Heller...reading...Dead Connection by Alafair Burke. Started them both today! I can't wait to see a modeled shot of the John Deere HH.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh--I NEED to make a hitchhiker!
ReplyDeleteI am just so tickled that you're knitting another Hitchhiker ... they really DO all turn out so differently! I'm still on the fence about Middlemarch - I desperately need a good fiction book to get me out of a slump, but I'm not sure that's the one one to do it. It might, however, be a very nice companion for the nearly 20 hours of solo plane travel I have coming up next month!
ReplyDeleteYour knitting is lovely... Middlemarch sounds intriguing, esp since it resonates in these times. Enjoy your reading and knitting.
ReplyDeleteCheers~
The colors of both your Hitchhikers are fantastic. John Deere is so vibrant and exciting, the purple/blue seems to be stormy night moving into the bright light of dawn.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Washington Black for book group in August. Reading about slavery is tough but it is a good story. I'm just into The Paris Seamstress/audio because it is what I could find on Overdrive. I'm plugging along on ribbed socks and the cardigan although I'm itching to have one more project that is a little more interesting. I can't wait to see the John Deere hitchhiker after blocking (nothing runs like a Deere!) The new hitchhiker is going to be another beauty - such rich colors.
ReplyDeleteThose knitting projects are just gorgeous.
