Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, with a Hitchhiker that's done except for the bind off. That will happen just as soon as I'm done mowing, working in the garden, and working in the kitchen on the garden produce. Then it's due for a good blocking which will probably happen next weekend in NJ as that's where all my blocking supplies are. I'm anxious to see how it looks in all its final glory!

Next up is a cast on of this lovely blank.

I haven't finished any books this week, but I can tell you that The Long Call is very good. All I'd really like to do is sit and finish it, but see above for the various interruptions keeping me from doing that. I forgot that summer isn't just a series of long, lazy days for reading and knitting, but rather a profusion of lawn, weeds, and garden plants that grow like a veritable jungle and have to be dealt with before they completely take over.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. ...oh I just knew your next project would be blue (but I will say the purple surprised me!) ;-)

  2. That yellow to green transition is just gorgeous! And I bet you are ready for blue and purple after that intensity! I hope you finish your chores quickly so that you have some reading and knitting time.

  3. I love that gradient so much and I know it will be fabulous when you block it (although it looks pretty darn good unblocked).

  4. That gradient yarn worked up so beautifully, Bonny! And, I LOVE your next blank! (I think I need to look at those blanks and finally cast on a Hitchhiker)

May those chores be done quickly so that you can finish that bind off!

  5. Wishing you speed (and some pleasure) with your chores so that you can get back to knitting and reading. It's so true about the gardens this year - they seem to be growing at an amazing rate.

Your John Deere Hitchhiker is amazing Bonny - so bright! I love it. And your next blank looks like it will be equally gorgeous.

  6. Even though you're kept from the "fun things" I find it wonderful that you feel well enough to tackle the yard and garden. I, also, can't wait to see this glowing Hitchhiker in it's glory!

  7. Can't wait to see the Hitchhiker officially finished (though something tells me you're more excited about it than I am)! Are you going to knit another one with the new sock blank or do something completely different?

You are reminding me that I should check out the Anne Cleeves Shetland series. I'm about to finish up a YA read (Divergent -- it was an Amazon Prime freebie, so I thought I'd give it a try).

  8. Quite the contrast between your last 2 posts! I love the Hitchhiker, and I look forward to seeing it blocked. Summer has never been a lot of long lazy days for me since I was a teenager, but it's a myth that continues to thrive until I face the reality. Since so many of you read Ann Cleeves, I guess I should jump on that bandwagon. May a cool wind be at your back while you are doing all those hot chores. Whatcha gonna do with that new blank?

  9. I might have to do another Hitchiker, I have a nice ombre skein that could work.

    1. Another Hitchhiker is always a good idea, especially in an ombre/gradient!

  10. I love the color transitions in you Hitchhiker and look forward to seeing how that blank works up. It's already too hot and humid here this morning to even think about garden chores...good luck with yours!

    1. Thanks, Debbie! I haven't even unrolled the new blank so I don't know what color it starts with or how the progressions look. Soon!

  11. I'm in the middle of reading the Agatha Christie books we have (series of 15? books). I've read them multiple times before, but still, some of them I can't remember who-dun-it. Is it age or just a very good writer?

    1. You have company - me! I love Miss Marple, but re-read them every so often for enjoyment and because I also can't recall whodunnit. (It's certainly not age!)

  12. LOVE your summery/gardeny Hitchhiker! It is just so happy and sunny. Of course, the blues/purples are going to be beautiful, too. Can't wait to see it unfold! You're killin' me with the early-reads of all the books I most want to read but have to wait. ;-) Good luck with your weeds, etc. I just went out to try to bring SOME order to my garden before I leave for 11 days. I know I'll be in trouble when I return. . .

    1. Thanks, Kathy! This one is for my son, but I may knit one of my own in these shades of John Deere some day!

  14. Love, love, love that hitchhiker! Sounds like your having a very produce plenty summer! I don't think we're even picking beans here yet. I just finished an EPIC semi-slog and am moving on to Ask Again, Yes based on your recommendation. It came in pretty quick so it hasn't caught on here yet! And I'm through the lace on my big fat shawl and moving on to 25 rows of garter at 350+ stitches per row...I'm motivated though!

  15. I am anxious to see the hitchhiker in all of its yellow green glory. It looks fabulous and your next up sock blank is enticing. The weeds are thriving, that is for sure. Today was a beautiful if warmish sunny day (i. e. the humidity was down- finally) so I puttered around outdoors all afternoon. I hope you get to your reading soon.
