I finished a bit of light reading in the form of Still Me, the third book in the Me Before You trilogy. I loved the first book, and read the next two mainly to see how the story ended. I also finished Milkman (four stars from me) and another very good four star book, Ask Again, Yes. This one really made me wish I belonged to a book group, as I very much wanted to discuss it with someone once I finished. I just started an interesting nonfiction book, Snowball In a Blizzard. It's about uncertainty in medicine, and I think it's going to be quite eye-opening for me.
What are you making and reading this week?
I love that indigo blue dishcloth! Perhaps I need to rethink dishcloths and get some indigo blue yarn!
ReplyDeleteI just got on the wait list for Ask Again, Yes. (warning...it's very long!)
Just the other day I was thinking I should knit up a new dishcloth or two...and then I received one in the mail from a friend!! Love that indigo blue color too. I'm thinking "Snowball in a Blizzard" might be too disturbing to me...I'll look forward to reading your review of it.
ReplyDeleteI'm back to knitting and am a little over half way through another Close To You and I suspect it is almost as addictive as your Hitchhikers! I'm reading the newest Maisie Dobbs, The American Agent, I love the characters in this series.
ReplyDeleteYou were quite busy with your nephew's graduation and church, so I'm glad you're getting a chance to relax with your knitting. I may have to try Close To You and Maisie Dobbs some day!
DeleteI get the urge to knit a dishcloth every once in a while. The cotton hurts my hands, too, but I love using the cloths to wipe up my counters after I do the dishes.
ReplyDeletePerhaps we can convince Mary to do a virtual book club instead of bingo (or in addition to?) next summer. I've always wanted to do a book club but never found one to join.
And now I want to knit new dishcloths! I have Ask Again Yes on my Kindle right now and I'll be reading it soon.
ReplyDeleteDishcloths are always a good fall back. I love the contrast between bright blue and white. Cotton yarn is a mixed blessing for sure. Your books sound intriguing. I've not heard of Ask Again Yes. I'm off to look it up.
ReplyDeleteI haven't knit dishcloths in so long! I've just put Ask Again, Yes on hold and it looks like it will arrive just around my vacation in August! And Snowball in a Blizzard...just the description is terrifying! And I like the idea of a virtual book club!
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while, I get on a real dishcloth tear. They're so useful and so satisfying to knit! XO
ReplyDeletethat dishcloth looks extra squishy to me. I like to have them on the needles to give as gifts and for the mindless knitting.
ReplyDeleteAs a medical person, I think Snowball is a book that everyone who thinks medicine knows all the answers and is infallible should read! And I also think everyone who takes everything their doctors say as gospel should read it as well. Ultimately, medical decisions rest each individual, with input from multiple experts. If you aren't satisfied, see someone else! I have been trying to get into multiple books without success. I'm not worried, I will find something eventually. Sounds like you have had good luck with reading lately. I am watching your reviews closely, Bonny. I tried to get Ask Again, Yes, but it is only available at my library as an ebook, not a Kindle books, so no luck. I may have to buy it as I am definitely intrigued. Your dishcloths look so nice that I would hate to use them.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting to have that dishcloth bug bite me ... I'm down to two and they are both on their last legs :-) My summer reading is proceeding, but at a much slower pace than I'm used to. I finished When They Call You a Terrorist a few days ago - so good ... and it's still on my to-do list to update Goodreads. Thank you for keeping your reviews up to date there!
ReplyDeleteoh Dishcloth envy here. May check into the SNOWBall. Love non fiction
ReplyDeleteMy reading is progressing (I even have a bingo!), but I haven't spent the time crafting (in any way) this week. The color of your dishcloth would make dishwashing a joy! But then, that's my favorite color!
