You saw her briefly last week, but this is a more formal introduction. Meet Daphne.
She arrived with two flower shoots already peeking out of the bulb, and she's grown incredibly in just a week.
Her tag says she is single, mottled cranberry-red and white. I've resisted looking at her flower photos in the White Flower Farm catalog, as the surprise and anticipation is part of how much I'm enjoying her. She is providing an enticing preview in one of her buds.
Stay tuned for getting to know Daphne better in next week's amaryllis watch!
Ooooo! Daphne is eager to get to bloomin'! Can't wait to see what she's up to next week. XO
ReplyDeleteDaphne is already a stunner!
ReplyDeleteWow! My amaryllis is still struggling bit I am trying to be patient
ReplyDeleteHow fun!!! She really put on some height this week!
ReplyDeleteShe is growing so fast! I agree with you - I wouldn't look at the pictures either...much more fun to be surprised (daily!). She will be spectacular.
ReplyDeleteWell hello Daphne! I'll be you're going to be a beauty!
ReplyDeleteOooh! I love how fast they shoot up once they start.
ReplyDeleteShe is a go-getter! I am looking forward to your pictures. I don't think I have ever seen a "cranberry" colored amaryllis, just bright red and red and white. Happy Tuesday, Bonny.
ReplyDeleteShe's probably the most ambitious amaryllis I've had! I'm also looking forward to seeing what cranberry looks like in an amaryllis, but for now am just enjoying her every day. A very Happy Tuesday to you also, Becky!
DeleteI LOVE that you refuse to look her up. Way to go for surprise! Im interested in seeing that beauty. I dont have flowers around due to my munching cats....so I love seeing others!
ReplyDeleteI've got her sitting on a windowsill today, next to an open window. I can hardly believe that it's 66 degrees today, and I hope she enjoys the warm weather as much as I am!
DeleteDaphne is a doing incredibly and that hint of red is so interesting! I look forward to seeing her unfurl in all her glorious beauty!
ReplyDeleteOh Bonny, how wonderful that 1) you've named her; and 2) you haven't looked her up. as I typed that I smiled thinking that could be a wonderful plot for a mystery ... but also a delightful diversion for a dismal month. and even better - we KNOW that your Daphne is going to turn out well. I look forward to her next chapter!
ReplyDeleteOh fun. What a treat on a bitterly cold day to see the bud of a flower. I am pretty sure I would have caved in and looked her up in the catalog.
ReplyDeleteOh, my! I am so happy to have another amaryllis to watch! I miss mine so much. Next year I'm going to stagger a few so they last all winter. Cranberry and white sounds so elegant!
