Reading about Kym's encounter with The General compelled me to try and muddle through finishing this sock. I had knit it about halfway using double points, cuff down, with Lorna's Laces, and no nylon reinforcement. I was a little concerned that all my knitting so far had been the complete opposite of The General's proclaimed ONLY way to make socks, but after an afternoon in waiting rooms yesterday ...
it looks like MY way worked for me! In fact, it worked so well that I just might make another sock MY way to complete the pair. :-)
Wishing everyone a good weekend, with plenty of opportunities to do things YOUR way!
Nice finish and pretty yarn! The General is clearly a fool!
ReplyDeleteHoping you have a wonderful weekend.
ha! I'd say YOUR way is perfect! (I, too, am a cuff-down, double point, no nylon girl ... and it works just fine :-)
ReplyDeleteAnother in the top-down DP group. Sometimes I go nylon-less, although the 100% wool sock do tend to wear out faster (I'm hard on my socks and I wear clogs so the bottom of the heels takes a beating.) However, just have to say, love that yarn! And the socks! I often think I'll make short socks but never do; you may have inspired me.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm grateful to The General for giving me a kick in the butt to finally finish that sock. I started it several years ago, and all it took was a day of knitting to finish it. Hopefully I'll finish the second sock soon and actually have a pair before summer starts!
DeleteLove those blues! Great socks and I say whatever way works best is THE way for you!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the color!!! (Take THAT, General. . . ) XO
ReplyDeletethat is one beautiful gorgeous sock!!!
ReplyDeleteSince I am one who does things exactly the opposite of THE General,I'm happy to see you're happy with your sock and that you'll have a pair to wear!
