Sunday Selection

Sundays during November will be for my Sunday Selection - a recipe that sounds good, a book that I love, a quote, poem, or photo that speaks to me ... whatever strikes my fancy!

Today it's roses in November.

These are at my father's facility, and I admire them every time I'm there. Some of the blossoms have succumbed to frost, but there are plenty of stunning ones remaining, along with hips and still-to-bloom buds on the same bush. They may be blooming in November because of global warming, and I don't know how long they'll last, but these lovely roses certainly started my November beautifully.

  1. Those are beautiful. I was admiring roses this week, too, as I walked to Town Hall. Maybe I'll take a picture and share it, thanks for the inspiration.

  2. Love the photo of the red rose. It looks velvety. There are still roses bloom at Red Butte Gardens and they certainly put on a show.

  3. They're beautiful! I was reminded about my roses and thorns post from Thursday as I read that bit about global warming (ugh!) but I prefer to think of it as Nature gently leading us into the new season :-) and oh how I love NaBloPoMo Sundays!!

  6. Beautiful! We've lost pretty much everything around here now. November is front and center in its cold grey ways!

  7. I used to have about 8 different shrub roses in my garden. I LOVED them! They were the hardest-working bloomers in the garden -- right up to the hard frosts. Then . . . they all succumbed to thrips, and over a 2-year period, I had to dig them all out. I miss them! Now? I just have one -- out front. Where I guess the thrips didn't think to look.
