Ryan's birthday was in October, and I spent a long time thinking about good gifts for him. Like most other 25-year olds, he can always use money, but deserves some much more personal gifts. Then it came to me; what young man wouldn't love his own recipe box? ;-)
I think he enjoyed the gift and appreciated the "family heirloom" box. I intend to add to it with new recipes that I think Ryan will enjoy, and this one may be the first I send after we try it for our Sunday Supper today. My nephew has proclaimed this as "one of the best meals, EVER!!!!!", and I can't resist recipes that combine some of my favorite ingredients (even if they may be decidedly unhealthy!)
I hope everyone gets to enjoy their own delicious version of Sunday Supper, no matter what that may be for you. I'd love to hear what's for supper at your house today!
I bet Ryan will treasure that forever.
ReplyDeleteThat's so wonderful! My aunt sent me some of her favorite recipes (I love running across them in my recipe file, her distinctive handwriting) and, along with the "my first tool box" from boyfriend at the time... best and most appreciated gifts ever!!
ReplyDeleteHaving a recipe box with mom's handwritten recipes is a fabulous treasure. It's a very thoughtful gift for a mother to give. Good choice, Bonny!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely box! I am so drawn to things like this that contain so much history!! He will treasure it!

I treasure my recipe box! One of the first Delay Christmas swap presents I ever received - with family recipes included. He's going to love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I might have to do that for my kiddos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect gift! (And that box! Oh, wow. So cool.)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read your Sunday Suppers posts this month!
My mother had that very same box. I wonder if she got it from her grandmother...
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful gift! I treasure every single recipe card in my mom's or grandmothers' handwriting... even those I wrote myself at age 13 or 16. (and kielbasa stew sounds like a winner!)
