I'm joining Kat and fellow Unravelers for Unraveled Wednesday with a few projects.
I already had a gift for my nephew's wife's baby shower that I attended last Sunday, but somehow I got the idea that she also needed a handknit. The baby isn't due until October, so I have been thinking about some bibs and/or a Baby Surprise Jacket, but I wanted something I could finish in a few hours since I got this idea Saturday night and the shower was early Sunday afternoon. VoilĂ -- a baby hat. I think I need to have better DK yarn in my stash (that off-white was the only thing I had), but I'll work on that for bibs and the BSJ. (The order that I just placed with Knitpicks should take care of this problem.)
I read a few books over the last two weeks -- The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle, As You Wish, A Thousand Ships, How to Be Perfect, and I'm currently re-reading one of my favorites, Miss Marple: The Complete Short Stories. It's a perfect book for summer reading!
What are you making and reading this week?
I love that peace cowl! I made one when the pattern first came out and found it to be such a slog, I admire you for getting it done. That's a sweet baby hat and I still love your Hitchhiker even if it's lost it's allure for you! I'm working on a Musselburgh hat for Dale and I'm reading The Book of Form and Emptiness.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy a rolled edge, simple but classy!!
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten about that rolled edge . . . but it works perfectly and is so much easier/quicker than All.That.I-cord! I love your peace cowl. That's a great design, a peaceful knit -- and you'll love having it when the weather gets cool again. I also love your Hitchhiker. Those colors are so much fun. But I know the feeling . . . when other yarns start calling your name! I've just started listening to Trollope (The Way We Live Now) . . . which will give me 32 hours of weeding/reading time. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe roll of stockinette is annoying in many instances, but here is one place where it's absolutely perfect! The cowl looks squishy and warm. It'll be great and very cozy when the weather gets chilly again. I think a simple and elegant baby hat is always appreciated, and as you know, I can understand the allure of other projects -- but that Hitchhiker is going to be such a stunner when it's done!
ReplyDeleteYour cowl is gorgeous! and I love your i-cord work around! I started Crossroads yesterday and am immersing myself in the 70's!
ReplyDeleteI like everything you have done and are working on, Bonny. That baby hat will be so welcome in the fall. I am reading This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub. I have never read any of her books before this one. It's interesting so far. You have been busy, knitting and reading!
ReplyDeleteI love your Peace Cowl, it's a great color and I like the edging. I finished Horse today, it's a great book if you enjoy well researched historical fiction.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie! I've got Horse on my list, so I'm glad to hear that you really enjoyed it. I'm starting The Transit of Venus very soon, and am very excited about it!
DeleteI love that colorful Hitchhiker!!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty knitting - the hitchhiker, cowl, and hat. I like KnitPicks Swish for kids knits. Washable, soft, and not expensive since they out grow everything in the blink of an eye.
