Too Much

I meant to write a post earlier today, but that didn't happen. I've got a bit too much going on, so I'm taking a short break this week. We're back and forth to MD, packing and loading the last pieces of furniture and boxes. It's my fervent hope that we have just one trip next week to deal with the very last of the details. Wish me luck returning the Comcast equipment! It's been an exercise in frustration so far. We spent this morning chasing down the notary that we had made an appointment with to sign the documents so we could close on the MD house remotely. He finally showed up 90 minutes late, but then there was copying and FedExing to do, all while the settlement agent kept emailing me wondering what was going on. Closing isn't officially until the 28th, but the buyer scheduled it at a location three hours away, so we chose to close remotely. Detail, details (and the devil is in the details)!

Both of the kids have some big things going on that they want our advice on. It's nice that they still want to know what we think, but it's also made for some sleepless nights. A family member broke her arm sledding, so that will require surgery, hardware, and plenty of help from others while she heals. It's always something!

These pictures have nothing to do with me telling you that I'm taking a break; I just think a post needs some photos and these are some recent ones. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed this weekend and went out for a walk. Our town in NJ is making some huge renovations, which means they are knocking down lots of old buildings. I was quite taken with the safe door, and since I didn't think I could put it to any use, I thought it should be preserved in some way.

I hope you all enjoy a good week, one without frustrations, issues, and feeling overwhelmed. Since this is real life we're talking about, I hope those things are at least kept to a minimum. See you next week!

  1. Good luck to you! We were able to mail stuff back to Comcast, but we had to be kind of pushy telling them there was no close by place to drop it off near our new home.

    1. I do have a place to drop off the stuff that isn't too far away, but I'm having trouble getting them to actually cancel my account. It was supposed to be cancelled a week ago, but I just got a new bill. Maybe I'll be able to convince them when I actually drop off the stuff. Ah, good old Comcast!

  2. I'll be sending you ALL the good moving/advice-giving/caretaking juju this week, Bonny. As I always used to (and still do, actually) tell my kids when all the shit was hitting the fan at the same time, "Soon you'll look back and this week be just another blip on your radar." And it will. But you've got to get through it first. May everything go smoothly! XOXO
(And that is one cool door!)

  3. Oh Bonny, when it rains it pours. I hope this week is calmer with fewer glitches and definitely no injuries. I do love the photos of the door and old building.

  4. OH, I think I could put that door to use, Bonny! And I love the photos. Been thinking about you today and wondering how it was going. Oh, the frustrations! Sometimes they just never seem to end. I hope things begin to come together soon, and you know they will, and it will be such a relief. Hang onto that thought! I have been without a kitchen sink for 10 days (yes, during the storm), and today I got it fixed. So, things do get better. All good thoughts for your closing out life in MD. If you think of it like that, no wonder it's such a hassle.

  5. Oof, it's a lot to deal with all at once! I've been thinking of you and I appreciate that you took the time to write a post and tell us what's happening. I hope all goes smoothly and you are settled, safely and happily, back in New Jersey very very soon!

  6. When I didn't see a post from you yesterday morning, I figured things were busy. I hope all of this mess gets cleaned up quickly and easily, and remember that once all the stuff with the MD house gets sorted, you'll never have to deal with it again!

I know the photos are unrelated to your post content, but I love that safe door. What an interesting addition that would make to a house, even if it was nonfunctional!

  7. Normal life stresses plus moving plus injured relatives are no fun... but add in Comcast woes and you have the recipe for an imperfect storm of stress! Ugh! I am sending you all the good moving thoughts I can, and even more healing vibes for your poor family member.

But that door is just absolutely so cool!

  8. Comcast used to have a promotional campaign that used the word "comtastic" - at our house, we simply refer to the company as "comcrapstic." Every transaction is a battle. I feel for you!

  9. I love that you "preserved" that safe door. And I hope you get stuff all locked up safely this week! Or as best you can. I GET YOU!!

  10. I'm so sorry that there is so much going on while you are trying to move -- and that the move is complicated! Moving is never fun, but some moves are harder than others.

    1. Even though the MD house is not our primary house, we still have to dismantle our lives here and move everything, which is always a stressful process. I'm not sure why I expected it to be easy! It will all be better after the 28th.

  11. I hope all goes well with all the stuff that is going on. Sometimes a break is much needed. I've only just started to take mini breaks from blogging. It was nice not to have that to do amongst other to dos when I'm overwhelmed.
