Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, with some more expressive dishcloths and the same old Hitchhiker.

We came down to MD yesterday so I could mow and pick more peas again today. There was fishing and knitting last night. I have had several requests for more expressive dishcloths so I chose this free pattern. It's quick, fun, and satisfying to knit, and may even make doing dishes slightly more enjoyable.

I'm not sure how many of these I'll knit before I move on to something else, but they are true potato chip knitting for now. I'm also working on the same Hitchhiker but I'll spare you another photo since it looks a lot like it did last week.

I finished several books last week, Poetry of Presence, How to be an Antiracist, and Wild Game. Each one was wonderful in its own different way, and you can click on the titles in the sidebar if you want to read more about them. I think Poetry of Presence and How to be an Antiracist are must-reads for everyone, and maybe I would also include Wild Game since it is our current Read With Us selection.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. love your washcloth phase! I like knitting that is repetitive and I can just go go go! I think your washcloths are like that.

  2. That's another great dishcloth! I'm on hold for How to be an Antiracist, I look forward to learning a lot when I read it.

  3. I think that dishcloth sums it all up at the moment! I do love making lots of different dishcloths, so much fun. That poetry looks great. I will have to find a copy.
    Have a lovely week!

    1. Thanks! I'm not usually a dishcloth knitter but I just had to knit some "expressive ones" for friends and family during the pandemic. They've made me feel better!

  4. I love these washcloths too! Brilliant :)

(and thanks for the Poetry recommendation... I am off to see if my library has a copy!)

  5. Love your dishcloths Bonny (and thanks for the link to another freebie pattern). Your latest reminds me of a sticker that Fletch has. Three lines:
    OMG
    GOP
    WTF
Cracks me up (also makes me sad and frustrated).

  6. At risk of getting kicked out of Knitting Club, I don't really like using handknit dishcloths (though I do enjoy knitting them, so maybe I can stay)... but those are certainly expressive of current times!

I'm enjoying Wild Game, and am listening to Between The World and Me, with So You Want to Talk About Race in the wings... work to do.

  7. Knitting...the TTL MKAL and Ankers. Reading...Wild Game (love) and listening to I'm Sorry For My Neck (Nora Ephron) funny but not as funny as I expected. Love the dish cloth!

  8. There is nothing like a good potato chip knitting project -- and handknit dishcloths are useful, too. (I used to be like Vicki. I hated using them. But now I totally love using them! Go figure.) I continue to be a complete and shameless flirt when it comes to my knitting these days. SO unlike me. . . XO

  9. Wow, you are busy with knitting. I am not. I just finished a book that I loved. Supposedly YA, but I didn't really think of it as YA. The name of the book is Whippoorwill by Joseph Monninger. I am a true dog lover, and it is a perfect story for dog lovers, but a good book even if you are not a dog lover. I have read a couple of his books, and I like his voice. I feel like saying WTF at least 10 times a day these days, so I should probably knit up some of those dishcloths!

  10. Lovely water views. So soothing. We paddle boarded early today and it was so lovely. Reading: no. Just listening to podcasts and
Knitting: My shawl unit lay sock yarn gets here!

  11. I think we all need to embrace wherever we are with the making and the reading! Your dishcloths are scratching an itch and they're useful; please keep sharing them (although I would LOVE to see HH's again!) On the reading front, I am halfway through William Kent Krueger's This Tender Land. So far, SO GOOD and hopefully I'll have a solid recommendation by next week.

    1. I never would have guessed that knitting silly dishcloths for friends and family would be helping my sanity! How to Be an Antiracist was challenging and eye-opening,and I know I will be re-reading it in the future.

  13. Love, love your washcloths! WTF seams to be my go to statement since the 2016 elections, not very becoming for a women my age, though it makes my sister laugh everytime that word escapes my lips!

  14. I knit wash/dish cloths every now and again. I have used KnitPicks Cotlin for a little lighter weight cloth. They make great wash cloths for showering and face scrubbing. I like to have a potato-chip project at the ready. Knit what makes you happy.

  15. I read How to Be An Antiracist last year and agree it is required reading (maybe I already said that here, but I believe it fully). This is another must have dishcloth! Maybe I should find some cotton and give it a go.

  16. I am thinking about making some of those WTF and other NSFW dishcloths for the five women in my book group.
