I clumsily managed to get tripped up in the jungle of pea vines, went sprawling, and twisted my ankle. I used it as a handy excuse to set myself up in a recliner and prep the peas while catching up on Bob's Burgers.
There was no food in the refrigerator and I didn't really want to go to the grocery store for two days' worth of food, so I treated myself and got a delicious burger, buffalo chicken egg rolls, and a peach margarita from my favorite C3ntral Tavern. They've just started outdoor seating, but I opted for curbside (actually it was in a back alley) pickup, and it was delicious. I haven't missed traveling to MD much, but I certainly have missed food from C3ntral Tavern. This was enough for me for two days, and next time I will make sure to order two peach margaritas.
I also played some Animal Crossing and caught a whale shark. It was a successful and somewhat enjoyable trip!
I'm back in NJ now, and doing some more chores here. I hope to finish up before the third day of big thunderstorms start, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our power stays on. I'm going to leave you with a couple of positive things that were in my email this morning.
Sociologists found that people overwhelmingly chose to be generous to others -- even to strangers, and even when it seems one motivation to help might crowd out another.

Thanks for reading and I hope your weekend is a good one!
I love the pictures of your garden. Interesting article. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI hope your ankle is better!! That's interesting presentation for your margarita. I've only done take-away cocktails from the place down the hill and they serve in Mason jars with a little bottle of booze that you mix in yourself. That burger looks delicious (it's lunch time)!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good world because you're in it! :-) Your garden is going like crazy! I hope your weekend is peaceful and make sure to take care of that ankle!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your ankle Bonny. Hope it is healing well and that it wasn't too uncomfortable driving back to NJ. Your garden is CRAZY!!! OUr sugar snap peas are blooming like crazy, but no peas yet. Fletch did notice a blossom on one tomato plant and also on one potato plant! And I just realized it's raining again...we could get up to 2" or more! Time to check the upstairs windows. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteOW! Sorry about your ankle, Bonny. Your garden looks fabulous, and I am jealous. It obviously does well with benign neglect, and in your present situation, that's a good thing. Thanks for the positive thoughts in this time of very negative events. I believe most people have good intentions, but it's complex and related to our different perspectives. We just had a huge storm here, and I have a monster limb on my driveway. Off to find someone willing to cut it up with a chain saw. I hope your storms don't have high winds! Take good care of that ankle!
ReplyDeleteOh Bonny, Your ankle accident..ouch! What a great way to recover, however. I was listening to Garth Brooks song: Bring me two pina colodas, I want to have one for each hand, etc.......
ReplyDeleteEveryone who is showing their gardens continue to motivate me ! I painfully thinning some potted sunflowers today. I could hear them scream!
yikes, I hope your ankle heals quickly (I guess it didn't stop you driving back to NJ?) and four thumbs up for more peach margaritas. (hummmm... we have frozen peaches. and tequila. and 90 degrees in tomorrow's forecast ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I hope your ankle heals. Your garden looks beautiful. We are also having wild wooly thunderstorms at midnight for heavens sake. Your MD chores sound like a couple of full days of catching up. Fresh snow peas sound good to me. The Farmers' Markets (2) are open here but I can't quite mask up and go shop. I suppose it is not too different from the grocery store and I think the people who frequent the market are likely to wear masks but it seems like one more exposure. Take good care of that ankle. Maybe another margarita is in order.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks beautiful! I'm impressed!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your ankle heals soon - have a great weekend!!
Thank you, Katie! The garden is really thriving on benign neglect this year!
DeleteWhale Shark's FTW!! (and Great White's and Hammerheads!) Ahh! Hurrah for AC!
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope your ankle is better soon! (and yay margarita's!)
That's a seriously impressive crop of peas! We have just a few plants in the garden, but we have more seedlings growing inside.
ReplyDeleteI love how they packaged your margarita. It's like an adult Capri Sun!
Hope your ankle is feeling better and your power stays on.
I caught a whale shark the other day - and a hammerhead, too! Your take out looks delicious and I hope your ankle is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI hope that sprain isn't troubling you any longer. Your reward for working so diligently was lunch from a favorite spot! I've missed your trips to C3ntral Tavern, too!
ReplyDeletehm, you and I both tripping! I hope your ankle heals quickly!!
