Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday. The turkey is brining, crescent rolls are in for their first rise, raspberry jello salad is gelling, stuffing is stuffed in the casserole dish, and I'll start the pies as soon as I'm done here. It's dreary, cloudy, and grey here, so all I've got is a November-light photo of another completed Rikke hat.
I knit this one with worsted weight but don't like it as much as the dk versions. I'm not sure who this one is for, but I do think it will make a good snow-shoveling hat for someone. Since there hasn't been any unraveling in the kitchen, I hope to have the afternoon free to cast on another Rikke and get a good bit of knitting done.
I haven't had much time for reading, but I am listening to a delightful full-cast version of A Christmas Carol while I work in the kitchen. It might be a bit early for Christmas listening, but Roger Allam does the voice of Jacob Marley. I get to listen to a hopeful, seasonal story and continue my infatuation with Roger's swoon-worthy voice.
What are you making and reading this week?

ReplyDeleteYou've got a great start to your Thanksgiving prep from the sounds of it! I say it's never too early for Christmas listening!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely hat and will definitely make someone very happy. Enjoy your cooking time in the kitchen with Roger! And happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteRoger Allam is one of my absolute favorites!
ReplyDeleteMine, too! :-)
DeleteI loved Roger's character in Endeavor, even when he wandered off the righteous path. He does have a swoon-worthy voice. My husband has that kind of voice. Everyone who calls asks if he has even been a radio announcer. Nope! I really like the latest hat. Someone will be thrilled to get it. I even went looking for stash yarn to start a Rikke, but I just have not had time to do anything about starting one. I am going to start my prep in just a minute. I have been doing some cleaning, but I am over it. Cooking is more important. I hope you have a lovely time in the kitchen listening to Roger while you make mass comestibles for your men! Happy Thanksgiving, Bonny!
ReplyDeleteI love the color of that hat! Nice job on the prep work. Hoping to get the heck out of work by 3 to get the party started for the 16 that will be served. After that...nothing but knitting, reading, watching and sitting. My favorite 4 days of the year. HAPPY THANKSGIVING BONNY! XO
ReplyDeletelovely hat, I'm working with worsted weight for the speediness of the project! I haven't knit that pattern yet but I should, yours is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous hat!
ReplyDeleteI listened to Tim Curry's performance of A Christmas Carol--wow--that was wonderful!
well Im listening to Christmas music. Love it all season long .
ReplyDeleteIm working on anew shawl.
I'm not quite ready for Christmas music myself, but I am glad you are enjoying it! Happy Thanksgiving!
DeleteI never get tired of A Christmas Carol. One of my brothers can do a Jacob Marley like in the Alistair Sims film version.
ReplyDeleteI like the color of the hat, someone will enjoy wearing it!
Happy Thanksgiving, Bonny!
My father always thought that the Alistair Sims Christmas Carol was the "real one" and nothing else quite measured up, so it holds a special place in my heart! Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving, Debbie!
Delete...and the Rikke love continues. that makes me happy! Tim Curry's A Christmas Carol is my annual Christmas Eve tradition. I can't imagine listening to another version, but your description of the full cast does give me pause. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!
ReplyDeleteA good snow shoveling hat! Ha - Maybe you can give it to someone as a hint - I won't make any suggestions though. I bet your kitchen smelled delicious today. I made the cranberry relish, pumpkin bars and crescent rolls today. We will eat them somewhere tomorrow - depending on the weather. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
ReplyDelete...and what time is dinner? All sounds very tasty. Have a great holiday!
ReplyDeleteCheers~
Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds very similar to my mom's, which I call traditional! I hope the hat goes to someone who will be around to do the snow shoveling for you. The hat looks very warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteTom and I listen to The Christmas Carol together at some point each Christmas season. (We used to read it aloud to each other, taking turns. But now that we have audio AND a speaker system, we just listen.) I love Love LOVE Roger Allam. I became a total fan when I fell in love with the British cast version of Les Mis. His Inspector Javert is the The Best! XOXO
