Sometimes Monday ...

... is for doing a home improvement project that you've been avoiding.

John is getting ready to tile the bathroom floor in MD.

He's measuring and actually doing the work, but I'm lending lots of moral support.

I was lucky enough to find this heavy marble rolling pin at Goodwill, so I will be rolling the tiles as recommended after installation. (I love multi-purpose tools!)

And when we work up enough motivation, we'll move onto the kitchen floor next!

  1. Oh wow! That's a ton of work...but it will be so nice when it's finished. Great idea for the marble rolling pin (which I cannot believe you found at Goodwill!!).

  2. Wow. My 1950s house had that same type of flooring in the bathroom when we bought it (just the black and white version). It's been covered now!

  3. SO much work! Dale and I tiled our very small front entryway and that was enough for us. I hope it goes smoothly!

  4. Good luck! Oy... that looks like a lot of work! But that rolling pin! Sweet find!

  5. Tile work is back-breaking, so John has my sympathies. It will be fabulous when it is over. I have a rolling pin like that, but I had to pay retail for mine! By the way, Bonny, the Indian pudding was a disappointment. It was watery and unimpressive. Pumpkin pie is much better.

  7. Whoa. I know it's gonna look great ... as will the kitchen! (for all the house projects, my job is always moral support ... and honestly, I think sometimes it is the harder job :-)

  8. That is so impressive. Fireman and I are thinking of tiling the porch floor. It is cement with a little indoor outdoor carpet on it now. But because we got 9 inches of snow yesterday, neither of us want to go out there!!!

    1. We had our porch tiled and it is the best thing ever!

    2. It might be easier to tile your porch than the bathroom. Hopefully there wouldn't be any complicated places to cut and fit around like the tub, toilet, sink, molding, etc. Wait until warmer weather in spring!

  10. Smith spent last month completely redoing our main floor bath (1/2 bath). Working on days off and after work almost every night extended the project a bit, as did the problems encountered along the way. It's done. On time. Good thing as we had company for the T-day weekend. I wish you and John a swift and easy tile installation joy!

  11. I hope it all went well! I have one of those rolling pins...a wedding gift 31 years ago. Now if I'd only used it 31 times! :-)
