I spied this one alongside the road in PA this weekend. It looked okay from a distance, and even better up close, so once I made sure the sign on it said "Free", I grabbed it. I still need to refinish the top, but that should just mean a little sanding and a few coats of polyurethane before it's ready for plants.
Two days later in MD we drove past what looked like a pile of trash, but I thought I saw something that might be wooden and just about the size of a plant stand ... and it was! This one didn't even need refinishing, just a good scrubbing and I'm all set.
This doesn't happen very often, but I'm grateful that that the universe has provided me with exactly what I need, and I even have an extra shelf or two for more plants!
You have such good luck -- they are both beautiful! I'm often amazed at what people will throw out, and I'm glad you can give these two stands a new life.
ReplyDeleteWell done! I love them both!
ReplyDeleteI need to start looking along the roadsides as I could use a couple of nice plant stays (for amaryllis!).
ReplyDeleteIsn't it nice when the universe "opens up" like that? PERFECT plant stands!
ReplyDeleteWhat Margene said! You've got a keen eye Bonny!
ReplyDeleteI love these gifts from the universe! Hooray for house plants and the joy they bring!
ReplyDeleteSWEET! Those are very nice gifts from the universe!!
ReplyDeleteLuck counts, too, Bonny. I have never found a plant stand, but I do have a lovely bench on my front porch that I found by the roadside. I love that you call these gifts from the universe. It sounds so much better than roadside trash, LOL. One man's junk... Hope you week is shaping up nicely.
ReplyDeleteThrilled wth you picks. Reuse reduce recycle is always great, I think. I hope your indoor plants thrive. I have 5 upstairs in the bathroom where the cats cannot reach them. I am superhopeful the small trees make it over the winter. They were given us at 3 inches tall! ! zach's apartment is so small that I tease him they are his Christmas trees
ReplyDeleteCats and plants are not often a good mix, but I hope you have good luck in keeping them alive over the winter!
Deletewhat a beautiful find!! I love how some people throw away good stuff, and then we find it. My husband picked up all sorts of stuff when we were first together and had very little.
ReplyDeleteVery resourceful. Recycling and reusing is always good. I especially admire the stand with the heart shaped shelves. Right now I am down to one houseplant and trying to decide whether to begin again. I enjoy the green in winter but truth to tell I am enjoying my clean kitchen counter where the gangly aging philodendron used to live.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! They look great Bonny!
ReplyDelete:-) clearly the universe wants your indoor green thumb to thrive just as much in MD as NJ! I'm sure those plants make it feel a little more like home, too!
