Oh, Anonymous ...

... you say the dumbest, silliest, strangest things!

Yesterday Google seemed upset that I had 25 comments awaiting moderation and felt compelled to yell at me about my grievous lack of moderation. I don't think I have ever checked the "Awaiting moderation" section of my blog's comments in five years, so I clicked over to see what was there. The comments were all from Anonymous and he/she had some interesting things to say.

Sure, Anonymous. More content, less text, more images, coming right up, just for you.

I don't know which family member this might be, but I'm glad I could include almost all important infos, especially after my content deficiency noted above.

Thank you! I always try to write fastidiously.

I've wondered the same thing, Anonymous.

I'm glad I could help your sister analyze knitting, reading, and random bits and pieces from my mundane life.

Wow, this comment is pleasant!

Oh, Anonymous, you do make me laugh (hysterically)!

These spam comments were funny to read, but they do seem to be increasing based on the dates they were written, so I might have to turn off anonymous comments at some point. I didn't even understand how anyone (or any bots) would gain anything from commenting, but it seems like what they get out of it is a sleazy way for the commenter to get free links back to their site. Little do they know I'm not yet a famous blogger and their spam won't get them too far!

  1. Okay, I confess... I laughed and also wondered how you get the English speaking anonymous commenter! Mine are almost all in foreign languages!

  2. I'm glad I didn't have a mouthful of coffee when I read this - the anonymous comments posted on my blog were never that funny! (and I do love how WordPress helps me monitor spam ... of course that just means all the "good ones" never make it to the blog :-)

  3. I am often amused by the exact same comments as you receive! WHY are we both not famous bloggers!!!?

  4. I've had many of the same comments (or similar enough). Some time they are there only to lead you to FAKE news! In any case, at least we got a good laugh at their expense and I'm glad they were caught by your spam filter. Is there such a thing as a famous blogger? I thought blogs were dead. :)

  6. I've always enjoyed how fastidious your writing is and I get lots of good infos too.

I guess I better go check if I have any of those wonderful comments waiting for me in my spam folder. LOL

    (P.S. Great post this morning!!!)

  7. Haha. It's been a while, so I had to go check mine! I have quite a list of "blocked" URLs, so don't get too many anymore. They can be amusing...

  8. It's a sign of the times. I don't have a blog, but people trespass in my life in any way they can. It's very annoying. I hope you maintain your sense of humor about it, some days it is difficult for me. At least none of the comments were snarky. Those are the worst.

  10. I get these, too. Plus a few sales pitches. One tried to sell me blinds. One suggested I try shoe inserts. What can possibly be the point??? (Other than laughing fastidiously, obviously. . . ) XO

  11. I've just started blogging and the ones for men's little purple pills threw me for a loop the first time. Like what the heck made anyone think I was remotely interested? Modern problems?

    1. It all feels intrusive and annoying. Ads are bad enough; I hope you don't receive any photos!

  12. Hilarious! I love the comment above about how people "trespass" into our lives. Exactly. I agree that their motives are a mystery. But thanks for ending my day with a laugh.

    1. I agree with Becky above that this does feel like trespassing, but at least these trespassers were fairly amusing and didn't cause me any harm!
