Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday.

We had some really big thunderstorms last night, so everything outdoors is still soaking wet. The best way I could think of to show my current Match & Move progress is with Justin's rattlesnake from TX that I had previously "blocked" and hung.

After ripping out too many rows and sections, something finally clicked in my brain, and now I seem to be able to consistently remember the ssk and kfbs. I will soon switch to Body Pattern II, and that will be something new to remember, but I think I'm up to the challenge.

Reading has slowed down a bit, but that is mostly my own doing. I was ready to jump right into Winter after I read Autumn, but decided to "save" it for Summer Book Bingo. I finished The Crow Trap, the first in the Vera Stanhope series, but am waiting to start the next one, Telling Tales, until SBB officially begins. The Vera series could possibly work for three squares on my card, so hopefully I'll fill at least four squares - three with Vera and "with a cover that matches a current wip". I'm quite excited about that last square!

I am currently listening to Michael Pollan's How to Change Your Mind. I've read many of his other books and had decided to skip this one, but then I heard Terry Gross interview him on Fresh Air and I was hooked. He has a wonderful voice for narration, an intense curiosity, and is an excellent researcher and writer, all of which work together to make a pretty good book so far.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. Oh geeze...that snakeskin!!! I had not seen your post about it, but clicked on the link and could feel my heart beating faster and faster. Yikes! That was one HUGE Snake!

Your Match & Move, on the other hand, looks fabulous! So pretty. Love the copper color and the variegated yarn looks great with it.

I had heard about "How to Change Your Mind" - I'll have to check out his visit with Terry Gross. I've enjoyed his other books a lot. His "Cooked" show (Netflix) is good too.

  2. I hear you on slowing down with the reading until SBB starts! That's what I started reading An Echo in the Bone last weekend - it will count for a bingo square AND I won't finish until at least this weekend!

Hm. I may have to look for How To Change Your Mind ...

  4. Your match and move looks fabulous. I love the colors, and it blends well with the snake skin. What on earth inspired you to do that? I, too, am into How to Change Your Mind, but I am reading it. I really enjoy Pollan's voice in his writing, but I have never listened to his audio books. He has a very pleasant voice in his videos, so I imagine it would be nice to listen to him. I am also reading a lot of other books since everything came in from the library at the same time. Still no making going on here, but hopefully if I ever get my house list caught up, there will be progress on that front. Have a great day, Bonny!

  5. I look forward to your review of Pollan's latest. Another friend heard that same Fresh Air episode and she's enjoying the book... I'd like to listen, I think, but our library only has hard and e-copy (yep, one of each! the wait line is long!)

  6. I love Match and Move (I've made four) and whenever you post pictures of yours I want to start another one. NO! I have to finish the sleeves for the two sweaters that are all done but the sleeves, dammit. But your colors are great, and your shawl tempts me.

    1. Hitchhiker has been my go-to pattern to knit multiple times, but now I certainly understand why you've knit Match & Move four times! They are all lovely, and I just may be thinking about yarn for my next one!

  7. Match & Move is looking great! I love Michael Pollan and this sounds so interesting... marked it as "Want to Read" (audio, of course!). My reading could not get any slower, and I'm not even going to pretend it has anything to do with SBB! Haha.

  14. LOVE your colors more every time I see this shawl. The two just play perfectly together, as it does with the rattler skin. What book do you have in mind to match your Match and Move? I wonder!
