Three on Thursday

I've been running across some good quotes recently, so I'm sharing a few with you for Three on Thursday (along with three bonus rainbows).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you mad. ~ Aldous Huxley

(Sometimes I wonder if he meant mad as in angry or mad insane, but both work.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How I wish that somewhere there existed an island for those who are wise and of good will. ~ Albert Einstein
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No matter how huge your loss, as long as you remain engaged with your life, the best days of your life may still be ahead of you.
Don’t misunderstand me: the pain of your loss will remain with you for the rest of your life. But great joy will be there right beside it.
Deep sorrow and deep joy can exist within you, side by side. At every moment. And it’s not confusing. And it’s not a conflict.
~ Augusten Burroughs

Please feel free to leave one or two of your own favorite quotes in the comments!

  1. I especially love the last quote, Augusten Burroughs was indeed a wise man.

  2. Wonderful quotes, Bonny! :-) I "collect" quotes -- and have them scribbled willy-nilly in a journal/notebook (that actually includes more post-it notes and scraps of paper than actual written-down quotes, if I'm honest). How to you keep track of quotes you've found? Enquiring minds want to know. . .

  4. Those are all good quotes, but I have to say the last one is the most meaningful for me, because I have found it to be 100% true.

  8. Great quotes, Bonny. I collect quotes myself, and here are a few of my faves that ring true to me.

Life is not safe and nothing can make it so, neither fashionable dresses or bank accounts. The baseline of life is courage. Paulette Jiles

They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for. Tom Bodett

    1. I don't think I've heard any of these before, and the first and third ones are just what I need today. I've written them all carefully into my quote notebook to add to my collection. These are wonderful, and I thank you so much for sharing, Becky!

  10. These are so good bonny! As others have said, the last quote is so, so true. Painfully true at times. But I really LOVE the first quote. Like Kym, I keep (or used to keep - I have no idea what became of it)a journal type book filled with quotes that meant something to me. I need/want to start doing that again. Sorry I can't think of any off the top of my head.

The three rainbows are wonderful too - thanks for sharing.

    1. That Augusten Burroughs quote seems to speak to everyone, and Teddy Roosevelt also knew what he was talking about. Thanks for sharing!

  12. Your quotes still speak.
    I like:
    This, too, shall pass.
When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves. ~Victor Frankl
    and this quite appropriate today:
