Here's what is going on in my world on this last day of July ...
Cheered by - All of my brightly blooming black-eyed susans
Surprised by - Little apples in one of our apple trees! The tree has some kind of rust, and the deer or squirrels might get them first, but at least I have a photo to prove I can grow apples.
Looking Back At - The deer photos I have taken in the past week
Learning - That poppies don't last very long. I saw this pink one in the morning, but this is all that was left when I went out to the garden in the evening. I just started these plants from seed my sil had saved for me, so I'm glad they bloomed at all, and will be watching for more flowers.
Grateful For - The profusion of roses that daily rain has brought forth. I love looking at these, and am planning to try and start more bushes with cuttings from this high-performing plant early in the fall.
Wondering About - This thrift store I visited where things were arranged by color. Livestrong bracelets, tennis balls, a bag of doorknobs, and a quart of Pennzoil seemed to indicate that I was in the yellow aisle.
Making - Some perfectly healthy garden zucchini into something perfectly delicious with the addition of bacon and cheese.
Contemplating - What August will bring
What's going on in your world right now?
These photos are the perfect thing for a Monday! Those deer are just so cute! And, your Black-Eyed Susan's are so beautiful! And, poppies might be fleeting in bloom, but I think they are in the "brief but spectacular" category (which that zucchini would be at my house!) Thanks for sharing that recipe! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteHey! I bet I could get Fletch to eat Zucchini making it this way - lol. Thanks for sharing that link. Your pictures are beautiful (well, except for the damaged picnic table). Love those spotted fawns - so cute. Great photo of the front coming in too.
ReplyDeleteThe deer, roses, and the black-eyed susans made me happy.
ReplyDeleteThe Yellow Aisle made me laugh.
The zucchini made me hungry!
Hope your August goes well. :-)
Your flowers are beautiful! I really miss growing roses, but most of my yard gets less than 6 hours of sun and I'm worried that is not enough for them. I think I'm going to check out our thrift store later today and see if they have things arranged by color!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great catching up post! ...and I think I might be able to get Marc to eat zucchini if I prepared it that way :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of those fawns but boy, they are growing fast! And your flower photos are lovely, too. Interesting concept in that thrift shop!
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely summary of your happenings and that deer! so very cute :) I'm sorry that you picnic table got whacked. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteOrganizing junk by color? Well... that's different! ;) I suppose, back in the days when I was collecting green depression glass and my mother was collecting pink, it might have saved us some time.
ReplyDeleteNow I know how to make Smith happy about his near daily intake of zucchini! The fawns looks so sweet! Mother must be nearby. We have many trees of many varieties around our condo and caring for them is a constant chore. Thankfully, it's left in managements hands and they do a great job. Sadly, we have two pines that need to come down. I hope your old oak is well.
ReplyDeleteThere's a book store in North Conway, NH that does a color wall and it's incredible! I'll miss those fawns when they are gone as I'm sure you will too. I tried to get Doug to eat grilled zucchini last night...no dice!
ReplyDeleteLots of interesting things going on at your house! Beautiful photos of deer and flowers. The zukes look very good. Thanks for sharing, Bonny!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have a friend whose cooking philosophy is that many things can be made better with cheese, bacon, or chocolate. You just have to add the right ones to the right dish (but chocolate zucchini bread is very good)!
DeleteSuch lovely photos in this post. I so enjoy a good summer storm.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I also enjoy watching thunderstorms, preferably from a dry location on the porch. :-)
