Say It Ain't So!
I'm not an early adopter or "cool kid" when it comes to technology. I don't have a smart phone or a tablet, mainly because I don't have a real need for them. My current cell phone and laptop are important because they help me stay in touch with people in my life, but a small piece of technology that I use every day and consider an absolute necessity is my iPod. Mine is a ten-year-old iPod classic (yup, not a cool kid) which has worked fine until recently. Scrolling the click wheel plays havoc with my battery life, to the point that I need to keep it plugged in most of the time to use it. I thought I would tell my husband he would be getting me a new one for Christmas, but imagine my dismay when I searched the Apple site only to discover they had discontinued the classic model!
I visited the Apple store, Best Buy, Amazon, and ebay in a search for one, but alas, there are none to be had (at a reasonable price). I've thought about it for a few days and I think I'll replace my poor old classic with a new, improved nano. I'm sure I'll come to love it eventually, but for now I'm going to spend lots of quality time with my classic before we have to part.
I have that exact same Classic iPod (mine is white). It still works, although I must leave it plugged in all the time, so no portability (which, after all, is the point of an iPod!). My screen is also messed up, so I can't read the words quite right. But, still, I use it! I also have a Nano. I love it! Hope you will, too.
ReplyDeleteI started out with one of the old click wheel model iPods when they were brand new. That sucker was heavy but it played all my songs and I loved it. Now I'm an iPhone girl but it doesn't hold all my songs and that kind of bums me out.
ReplyDeleteyou got your money's worth with that gadget! Sorry it is now failing but I think eventually that happens. I was going to suggest ebay but you already looked. I have a nano 2g (old!!) and it works fine for my holiday music rotation :)
ReplyDeleteI checked with Doug to see if there was one hanging around our house that isn't being used but no luck. I've never used an ipod though Dan and Doug have been forever users. I'm loving Pandora and iHeart radio though!
ReplyDeleteI have every incarnation of iPod they've made over the years and I love my new iPod best because the batter lasts for days, not hours. Once you learn the ins and outs of it, you'll love it, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI also have a classic, maybe five years old (I stopped using it when I got my first iPhone) - and I would be happy to send it your way if you'd like. it's just sitting in a drawer taking up a little space!
