Unraveled Wednesday: 3/27/24

I'm happy to join Kat and her Merry Band of Unravelers with a new project. This is the beginning of a Hitch on the Move (Ravelry link).

There has already been some unraveling. I split the yarn in one of the kfbs, and my attempts at fixing it were unsuccessful. I unraveled 20 rows or so, counted carefully, placed my marker, and resumed knitting. I hope it's okay now and it was a good exercise for me to really get the pattern clear in my mind.

I last talked about books a couple of weeks ago, and I've read several in that time. Since there are four of them I'll be back tomorrow with a post just about books.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. I like these two yarns together a lot! I have to laugh, though, because when I saw the little photo preview in Blogger, it looked like a bikini, with the start of the shawl looking like the bottom and the two skeins of yarn the top!

I'm working on my handspun sweater and a pair of socks. I'd just started reading an ARC of Elif Shafak's new book when my hold came in on Iron Flame, so that's what I'm spending my reading time on right now.

    1. Thanks! That cobalt blue is my favorite color and I like all the colors in the multicolored skein, too.

  3. I think those yarns will make a really gorgeous HotM! I remember it taking a few repetitions to get what I was doing cemented in my brain! I hope you are on the highway now... I liked when I got to the point where I was not "flipping" back and forth so frequently! I am eager to hear about your new books!

  4. Have to giggle -- I thought the same thing as Sarah, at first glance, and I thought, WOW! What is on Bonny's needles??!! :)
I ripped back recently (on a pretty simple project, really) -- but like you said, not all lost because it helped solidify the pattern. (If we think of it as swatching, it still feels productive?!)

    1. Once Sarah mentioned it I couldn't unsee it myself! I used to get aggravated if I had to rip back, but I finally realized that my goal isn't to knit all the things in as little time as possible; it's to enjoy myself while knitting. Ripping back allows me double enjoyment from my yarn (up to a point)!

  8. Such fabulous colors for your new bikini!! Oh, I mean Hitch on the Move! I want to knit some on mine...and the Shakerag Skirt, but I think I need a nap first (I woke around 2 am. and never really got back to sleep...). Looking forward to your book post!

  9. I've been in a knitting slump after knitting so many baby hats, but you have inspired me to make a Hitchhiker with a beautiful skein of Dream in Color Smooshy Cashmere that I received as a Christmas gift. I think it's a great pattern to show off the colors of the yarn!

    1. That sounds like a wonderful use for a special skein of DIC Smooshy! I hope you'll post a picture on Instagram sometime so I can admire it.
