Sometimes Monday ...

... finds you without much to say.

I've wracked my brain and just haven't been able to think of anything of consequence that might be even remotely interesting. We hung pictures at Ryan's house on Saturday and it finally looks like a real home? I have cleaned out the freezers and am enjoying being able to find things? (Elk burgers for dinner tonight!) I've decorated as much as I want to, bought as many gifts as I want to, but haven't baked at all? I've finished knitting a hat, am 17 rows away from completing the second one, and hope to have time for a third one?

There you have it - almost everything that is going on in my life right now. But that's okay, I'll take calm and peaceful over a holiday frenzy any time.

Because I think blog posts are always improved with a nice photo or two, I'll leave you with a sunrise and sunset from last week. They were both dramatic, and the red sky at morning did herald some high wind warnings. I hope your skies are lovely and calm and peace are prevalent in your world.

  1. That is one amazing sky, Bonny!! It feels good to be mostly caught up. Simple gatherings have made that possible. The year is ending as low key as it started.

  2. I'm with you, I've done everything I intend to do except baking. The pictures are quite dramatic, and my skies have looked dramatic as well lately. The weather has been very weird down here, too warm, then too cold, up and down constantly. I am always happy to see a post from you, whether you think you have much to share or not. What do you think of The Sentence? I have started it, but haven't gotten far. I am not captured.

  3. Oh boy! What gorgeous shots you got Bonny. Seems like a bunch of us are not stressing over the holidays as we (or at least I) have in the past. It's really, really nice to not feel rushed and bothered. I did just find another cookie recipe I want to try, so I may end up making more than I thought I would...but we give a bunch to others, so it's all good. And if I don't make them all, that is ok too. Elk burgers sound WONDERFUL!!! You are so furtunate to live with hunters!!!

  5. I've got to get 'my rear in gear' as we are planning on kids (2) and their friends (4) over for Christmas dinner (eveningish). Pot Roast was requested and easy to prepare/cook. Also crusty bread which gets started the night before and popped in a HOT oven the day of. Mostly I need to declutter...yeah, that's fun. Merry Christmas!

    1. Just the thought of pot roast with homemade crusty bread is making me hungry! Good luck with the decluttering and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  8. Wonderful. I can't tell you how relieved I am -- both for myself & for Ali -- that we won't be "doing" Christmas until Sunday (which is actually Rusty's birthday so pretty perfect). Jingle bells, jingle bells... low key all the way! Hey!!

  9. I too am taking these days as they come. I'm still working a little at a time on holiday cards but if they are Happy New Year cards so be it. Real mail is nice any day and I like to take my time and write short personal notes on most of them. I may back one more batch of cookies and I may not. I will make one more trip to the grocery store otherwise this week is fairly calm and I am ok with that.

  10. Sometimes calm and peaceful, as much as it presents difficulties for blogging, is welcome, especially at this time of year and especially in these strange times. And I'm always happy to see a beautiful sky!

  11. GORGEOUS skies! Our Christmas celebrations are VERY low-key this year, and I'm glad of it. It feels like I'm "forgetting something" - but I'm not. I've just cut back on the frenzy of it all -- and that feels so good. XO

  12. Stunning skies! (and I think hanging pictures are a very good thing to get done!)

A calm Christmas week is a very good thing!

  13. and yet you wrote a paragraph - that is what I like about your space. Do you pinch yourself and believe that Ryan lives close enough and you don't have to fly a plane??? That could be a daily blog post right there. I love imagining you decorating his space with him.
