Unraveled Wednesday

I'm joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, with the second Nervous Breakdown once again. I've barely done any knitting on it this week (maybe just one tooth which is only 8 rows), but I took another photo of it anyway.

So if I haven't been making much way in the way of knitting, what have I been making? I've made the bed, made lots of dinners (steak on the grill and pasta salad tonight), made a big decision (more about this later when I get more details), and made lots of phone calls. Hopefully, I'll have some time to get back to some making of the Nervous Breakdown.

I did finish Iron Lake (a mystery that was a bit too gritty for me) and Shuggie Bain (heart-breaking and wonderful at the same time). I finally got The Invisible Life of Addie Larue from the library and started that (interesting, but my opinion will depend somewhat on how it ends). After seeing Michael Lewis on 60 Minutes last Sunday, I had to get The Premonition. It's subtitled A Pandemic Story, and though I've only just begun reading, it is a real page-turner.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. Well I am intrigued by your hint about your big decision -- I hope it's something good!

I absolutely loved Addie LaRue. As I recall, it took a little bit of time for me to get into, but once I got to a certain point, I couldn't put it down.

  2. I have struggled to find knitting time this week as well... there are gardens to weed (thanks Rain for making those weeds look like they are on steriods!) and so many other little things. I saw Michael Lewis on TV last night and was thinking I need to read that book as well!

I am excited to hear about your big decision! (Teasers are just so much fun!)

  3. I just finished the latest Maisie Dobbs book. It has been very slow to get anything from the library these days. I ordered some new yarn, and I am anxious for it to come in. Your nervous breakdown is looking fine, Bonny. I hope your new decision brought you peace and hope, whatever it is.

  4. I'm struggling to find time to do anything "fun" this week. . . Maybe next week will free up? I'm kind of in a reading slump at the moment. Too many stream-of-consciousness narratives in too short a time, I think. I'm looking for a good, old . . . story . . . right now. I love your Nervous Breakdown. Those colors just shine against the green! And I can't wait to hear about your big decision. XO

  5. I was fascinated by the Michael Lewis interview on 60 Minutes. His other books that I have read were excellent; I hope I don’t have to wait too long to get a copy from the lĂbrary.

  6. Addie LaRue was definitely a slow starter. Once it hit it's stride, I couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to reading more of the author's work.

    1. That's been the case for me, too. It seems like she is mainly wandering around through places and time, and some of the writing strikes me as over the top, but a good friend recommended it, so I'm going to stick with it. Glad to hear that you reached a point where you couldn't put it down!

  9. I continue to love your hitchhiker. I agree on Shuggie Bain being wonderful and heartbreaking, it's a great example of how we can feel two very different emotions at the same time.
