I drive past this church and their sign quite often when I am in NJ. They change the saying weekly, and I often react by questioning, overthinking, and disagreeing with what the "person in charge of sign sayings" has chosen. But I am taking note of this one, heeding it, and putting it into practice.
I hope your week has plenty of opportunities to try, try again, and keep moving.
Although I don't have a religious bone in my body, I have an affinity for reading those church signs. I wonder who does it, and how they pick what to say, and what impact it has on people who drive by. This one is pretty good, Bonny. I am going to put it into use this week by trying to avoid all talk of the ABC hearings. They will do nothing but make me mad and sad. Thanks for a motto to live by this week! I hope you have a great Monday.
ReplyDeleteDuh, I obviously meant ACB instead of ABC. She who shall not be named this week.
DeleteI like this a lot. It's simple but profound. And it's a good lesson for our turbulent times.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great church sign. The one I pass regularly says "thou shalt wear masks."
ReplyDeleteWords to live by, for sure. Thanks for sharing them, Bonny. I, too, can use a boost for the week ahead. XO
ReplyDeleteExcellent advice and something I sure need to remember.
ReplyDeleteVery good advice, sometimes churches have good advice on their boards, I like the ones that are inclusive and a play on words!
ReplyDeleteI love the message and it is fitting for this time of our lives.
ReplyDeleteExcellent messages often appear in the must curious places! :) Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteThat's a keeper!
ReplyDeleteaw, It is a good quote, but Sometimes it is very hard to try when Depression is overtaking you. My doctor understood this. HE would say, 'If you were home vomiting and had the stomach flu, you wouldn't try very hard to learn a new skill or succeed with a marathon" Mental illness is an ILLNESS. That is why you don't feel well. You need to be well to succeed and Try to fake it till you make it , if possible. I have a dear cousin who needs prayers. HE has gone blind at56, and is very ill with depression due to this. Getting through each hour of each day right now is the success in his life. I know you didn't direct this specifically at mental illness, but It just came to mind!! Thanks for listening.
ReplyDeleteKnow exactly what Pastor Phyllis means...thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sign ... and honestly, I was surprised to see that message, and a female senior pastor, on a Baptist Church sign. prompted me to do a little googling and I learned that the ABC is not the same as the SBC (much like my Presbyterian denomination split over racism and other things) ... anyway - thank you for sharing!
