Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, with some monogamous knitting. I've talked to my nephew's wife and she's only got three more weeks until the baby is born. It's nerve-wracking enough to think about delivering a baby, but to do it in the time of coronavirus seems especially worrisome. I'm knitting lots of extra love into each row.

I haven't finished any books this week, but I'm currently listening to Hamnet and How the Penguins Saved Veronica. Hamnet is superb and I don't want it to end, but I'm still not sure about Veronica and the penguins. I'll know by next week if it's worth continuing. I've been thinking about E.B. White and how he might have written about the pandemic, so it may be time for me to re-listen to him reading Charlotte's Web

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. Such a beautiful blanket! It will be very special. I agree, I cannot imagine having a baby in these times and not being able to see anyone. I have to read a book with such an intriguing title - plus I love penguins!

    1. It's their first baby and we can't even risk getting together for a shower so everyone has been sending their gifts. Better safe than sorry, but life events where you want to hug people and express how much you care are certainly different now.

  3. WOW, you are really making progress on that beautiful blanket Bonny. Knitting for littles is a soothing loving act for me, thinking good positive thoughts and dreams for them in every stitch! With such a beautiful blanket and all your positive thoughts knitted into each stitch, I'd say that is a good foundation for a new family!

  4. I'm sure they're going to appreciate all the good thoughts going into that beautiful blanket, Bonny! I can tell you that my aunt knit a blanket with a similar motif for my daughter, and she was just curled up in it a minute ago. Here's hoping this one is equally loved!

  5. Listening to Charlotte's Web sounds like the best idea! My resident spider brought me much joy the past couple of weeks with all the web making. That's going to be one lucky baby...beautiful blanket Bonny!

  8. I adore feather-and-fan (or ripple or whatever you want to call it). The blanket is just perfection -- and will be a treasured heirloom, I'm sure. I ADORED Hamnet. I didn't want it to end, either. But the end???? Oh, talk about perfection. . .

    1. Thank you, Steph! I have at least another skein to go and maybe a bit more if I've got time, but I'm slowly and surely getting there.

  11. The blanket is so sweet. No I can't imagine thinking about delivering a baby during this pandemic. However, my neighbor had a baby in April. Mother and baby did just fine. Hamnet is on my TBR list. I've read many good reviews.

I didn't know that EB White narrated an audio version of Charlotte's Web. Now I'm intrigued!

    1. Thanks, Katie! I was surprised to find that E.B. White himself narrated the Charlotte's Web audio available from my library on Overdrive, and it is as wonderful as you might expect.

  13. The blanket is going to be cherished. Not the best time to deliver a baby, but I am sure the hospital is taking great precautions to keep everyone safe. Stay safe!

  14. What a gorgeous blanket, Bonny! My library doesn't have the E.B. White recording, but it does have a full-cast led by Meryl Streep ... I just put it on hold and it should be available soon. Thank you for that lovely suggestion!
