Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday.

There hasn't been any unraveling this week, but not quite enough raveling either. I'm working on the second fingerless mitt for Ryan. They were intended for his birthday, but I'm already three days late. I'm not quite sure where the time has gone, but he's already got snow and freezing weather, so now I've got extra incentive to get them done - soon!

I'm feeling a bit slow and uninspired as far as reading goes, but I think (hope) that it's just a small slump. I've got some good books lined up to read, but none of them have really captured my attention. E.B. White always has something to say to me, so I'm re-reading Essays of E.B. White and One Man's Meat. His writing about politics and war, along with life on the farm and fishing is honest, poignant, and helpful.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. Ryan is sure to love those fingerless mitts!
I'm reading Madeleine Albright's new book, Fascism: A Warning and find it to be very informative, balanced, and engaging.

  2. Love those mitts Bonny. My little brother in Boulder has been having rain (which they are thankful for) and temps in the 40's, but snow is in their forecast, so I figured Ryan was getting it too.

You and I seem to be at the same spot reading-wise. One Man's Meat just may do it for me - always a good book to pick up.

  3. Brrr. We're going from a high of 70F today to 44 tomorrow, and I saw the word SNOW in a forecast for next week... but I scrolled right by! I am still reading Rick Bragg's latest and working on my Savage Heart cardigan and Summer Camp scarf.

  4. I am reading Hank Green's book, simply because it is his first book and the Green brothers are interesting. The book is engaging, but it is a YA book, so it has some elements that I find trite. I am not sure at this point exactly what the underlying theme of the book is, but I hope I figure it out soon. I haven't been knitting this week. Your mitts are very cheerful, and will be even more so in the depths of winter.

  6. I love those stripes, Bonny, and I'll bet Ryan will, too! I've had a busy week . . . with minimal time for reading (or knitting), but I'm hoping I can finish reading Three Things About Elsie before Overdrive whisks it away. :-)

  8. Those mitts are fabulous! I'm knitting away at a sweater for my daughter (just one sleeve left to do) and reading The Secret Keeper (hoping to finish today).

  9. Ahhh... E.B. White. I think the entire world could use a bit more of him! And, those mitts... so cheerful! I love that stripey yarn!

  10. Ryan will be grateful for the mitts! I can attest to the cold as I'm wearing my mitts daily. We have sun predicted for tomorrow and I'm hoping they are right (this time!). I'm reading The October Country by Bradbury. Oh my, it's such a creepy book perfect for this time of year.
