Before too much more time passes, I want to tell you about my visit to the new Loopy Ewe (and share lots of photos). They used to be located in a large, busy shopping center, but even though they are only a mile away from the old location, it's very different. The new location is in a business/industrial park (behind Wolf Robotics if you get confused like Ryan and I did). It seems like kind of an unlikely place, but they are still home to lots of great yarn and fabric.
Most of their yarn is now hanging up, making it easier to see (and covet, choose, and buy). I'm not sure it feels quite as cozy as the previous location, but that is most likely because I have only been there
So what did I buy?
I did get some beads like I mentioned before, but just like all of you predicted, there was also much more.
One skein of Qing Fibre Super Soft Sock in Underwater. Ryan and I are both partial to single skeins (we don't want them to feel lonely and unwanted), but I would have gotten more if they had more than one..
Two skeins of Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn in Foam. These are sherbet colors to me and will most likely become a happy Hitchhiker soon.
Wollmeise Blend in Clementine and Wollmeise Pure in Bob. I couldn't resist these, and will tell you more about the possible plans for them sometime soon.
Hedgehog Fibres in Egg Yolk and Cascade Heritage Silk in Snow. These are for Ryan. He had been to the new Loopy Ewe with a friend shortly after they moved and was smitten with the bright yellow. He has asked for "fried egg fingerless mitts", one in Egg Yolk and one in what he calls Egg White, both in a waffle pattern. I can't not knit that fun request.
This is the yarn I had to go back for, Seven Sisters Arts Meridian in Monkshood. I didn't buy it during the first visit because I thought I had quite enough. I thought about its loveliness that evening, and because Ryan kept saying "We should go back," we did and I'm really glad. I'm not sure what it will become, but for now its beauty is enough.
I used to feel guilty about buying too much yarn, but that's not really the case any more. It's beautiful, it's wrapped up with good memories, makes me happy, and those are all good things!
What a GORGEOUS blue!
ReplyDeleteI must make a trip to the Loopy! All of your yarn choices are wonderful, but I really love the blue and the fried egg mitts are going to be SO MUCH FUN!
ReplyDeleteAnd you're worth it! You've got some pretty special choices there Bonny!
ReplyDeleteOh mY gosh!!!!! i love the beads. The yarn is amazing . loopy ewe rocks
ReplyDeleteThe Loopy Ewe is definitely a wonderful place, well worth visiting!
DeleteAll of your choices are such happy colors, Bonny. But you always do gravitate to that shade of blue, don't you? I'm glad you don't feel guilty. You shouldn't! After the year you have had, a little yarn splurging is in order.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you share your Loopy Ewe visits with us all... gorgeous yarns! And, I can't wait to see those "egg-centric" mitts!
ReplyDeleteAfter looking at the pictures of the Loopy Ewe store with all that glorious yarn, I think you were extremely conservative in your purchases! You really bought hardly anything and all of it is beautiful. With regard to the Wollmeise, is it going to be a Match and Move? I've done four of them and am planning more so if that's it, well, you'll enjoy it and those colors are perfect!
ReplyDeleteThey do have so many skeins of beautiful yarn that it's easy to become overwhelmed! I'm not sure what the Wollmeise will become. My son has envisioned a "prime number" Hitchhiker (I'll explain that someday!), but if that idea doesn't work out, Match & Move is a definite possibility.
DeleteOMG --- I am in LOVE with Bob!!!
ReplyDelete(That was my dad's name. LOL) That is a fabulous color and I can't wait to see what you do with it.
holy moly that is yarn mecca! Absolutely gorgeous and you should never feel guilty about buying yarn :) It's what keeps us happy!
ReplyDeletewhoa. Whoa! that's a BIG shop!! You did a fine job with "more than beads" and I'm kind of loving that bit "[Ryan] had been to the new Loopy Ewe with a friend shortly after they moved" and those egg and waffle mitts!! also, don't you now have room for stash in TWO homes?! you certainly don't want any single or random skeins in one home to feel lonely ....
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely yarn store!
ReplyDeleteSome day I am going to get to The Loopy Ewe. It is a long day's drive from me. Completely doable I think. I don't think we should feel guilty about buying yarn. Making and creating is part of who we are and so good for our mental health.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! You made some wonderful choices!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness I would just die for a shop like this in our neck of the woods. oh the possibilities - dreamy
ReplyDeleteMmmm, lovely (yummy) purchases! I just bought some souvenir yarn in Chicago, knowing full well that I'd be culling the stash upon my return home... I didn't need more yarn, but it made me happy. I'm offering up some things -- that I never did like or know I won't ever knit -- to my knitting group, and donating the spoils.
