From last year, but hopefully we'll see this soon! |
Here's what is going on for me Right Now as we near the end of March ...
Looking Forward To - Heading north to visit Justin this weekend! I'm feeling like I desperately need some time away, so this is going to be wonderful.
Looking Forward To # 2 - A day when I don't have to deal with the bureaucracy and complicated paperwork of settling an estate. It's overwhelming on some days, but thankfully I had a respite yesterday. Fingers crossed that today's mail doesn't bring another batch of forms to fill out and get Medallion Signature Guarantee stamps.
Knitting - The Match & Move I showed you on Wednesday and a Hitchhiker that just says Spring to me.
Reading - Re-listening to Eleanor Oliphant and I'm getting so much more out of it the second time around. I think Raven Black and/or The Weight of Ink will be up next.
Appreciating - This neat little browser add-on, Library Extension. I use it with Chrome and when I'm looking at books on goodreads, Amazon, or Audible, it shows me if the book is available at the libraries I use, along with a button to borrow or place a hold on the books. I used to spend lots of time going back and forth between goodreads and library tabs, so this extension has been quite helpful. My libraries were not initially among the supported library systems, but I sent an email and they were added within an hour. Here's what it looks like for Educated by Tara Westover:
Not Succumbing To - Jelly beans. I really like them, but I've made a renewed promise to myself to take my health seriously and pay attention to what I eat. I've resisted buying any so far, and I hope that by the end of next week they'll be gone from the stores and I will no longer be tempted.
Reveling In - Prolonged daylight! I've made John take a walk almost every evening,
Drinking - I've been enjoying my usual Celestial Seasoning Peppermint, but need to add something new, preferably uniquely good-tasting with words of wisdom on the tag. I welcome your recommendations!
Planning - Starting my tomato, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and pepper seeds for the garden. They'll be in their little cups under the grow lights by the middle of next week. Maybe I'll even plant a few annual flower seeds and see what I get.
What's going on in your world right now?
I have some things to take care of early next week, so I won't be around Monday through Wednesday, but hope to be back by Thursday. I wish you a Happy Easter, Passover, César Chávez Day, weekend, spring, or whatever you might be celebrating. Make it a good one!
I'm so happy you're going to have a little get-away this weekend. That should go a long way in settling your soul. I'm wishing you the time and space to restore your patience . . . for dealing with bureaucracy and the constant, niggling details of settling an estate. XOXO Happy everything.
ReplyDeleteSettling an estate is overwhelming at times and it feels like the tasks will never end. I promise they will! Have a great time getting away this weekend. For tea, I recommend Yogi for the great tea tag advice. My favorite flavor is Ginger.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so glad you are getting away! I hope your time will be just what you need! I am going to take a page from your enforced walks... I will let you know how much Steve grumbles next week! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteYour getaway sounds wonderful! and I hope you really can GET AWAY! ... it will be good for your mind, body and spirit! (and that library extension is very cool - sadly not available YET for my browser, but soon, I hope!)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful time! We've had non-stop rain all week, so it has been hard to do anything outside. Today it's sunny, so I will be sure to take a long walk, because rain is in the forecast again for the next several days...I have a new pond in my backyard and I'm just waiting for some ducks to show up!
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying the Vanilla Cinnamon tea by Yogi teas. I am going to see if my library is on that app. Enjoy your weekend and some r&r
ReplyDeleteOh yay! Have a fun time away, and a Happy Easter! I drove by the chocolate shop yesterday on my way home and thought about chocolate bunnies... I made a turn to head back, but then just kept going. (No one's more surprised than me!) You can do it!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been drinking CS Lemon Ginger lately in addition to the peppermint. Happy Easter and wishing you an empty mailbox today and tomorrow! xo (Have fun!)
ReplyDeleteGood for you on getting away. I hope you are able to leave everything at home and mindfully enjoy your days off. Trying to avoid good tasting but non-healthy food is an ongoing activity around here. I feel so much better when I avoid them, but our culture means constant exposure and temptation. I wish you luck in your quest, but you don't really think they will disappear next week? Or even next month? I hope your time early next week is productive and happy. See you when I see you! Safe trip!
ReplyDeleteAs weird as the combination sounds, I am enjoying a licorice/peppermint tea. Mine is from TeaPigs, but I know other brands have this combination too.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels to visit your son.
Happy Easter, Bonny.
Good for you, a mini-away-from-home helps to not bring forth a home-list.
ReplyDeleteWhat caught my eye was the not-succumbing-to item. Mine is chocolate and I have been so good at not even looking at the Easter candy stuff, I just got my sugar craving fairly under control. (Eating more basic fruit and plain popcorn with no salt, no butter.) I see the allure of jelly bellies though!
I’ve been drinking various jasmine teas, it is a definite different kind of tea - one either likes it or definitely doesn’t.
Knitting slowly on cotton yarn baby blanket, I was a bit sticky with bamboo needles so switched to a slightly slippery one - whew, much better.
Going to make my mom’s ‘Easter salad’ which is really a simple old-fashioned, molded jello one w/carrot, pineapple, and whip cream - nothing special but brings back lots of memories.
Happy spring with more-to-come blossoms, hurrah.
It's hard to not succumb to jelly beans or chocolate eggs, but sometimes we just have to decide to resist. Your Mom's Easter salad sounds lovely. My mother used to make a similar one, always with lime jello. It is special, so I hope you enjoy the memories and a very Happy Easter!
DeleteI haven't been away from home in so very very long! Sometimes I swear I will just go to a local hotel for a few days and have a staycation!! I'm also working on a Match and Move (I love your colors by the way). This pattern is so very easy to do - and the color possibilities are endless...

So, so glad you are getting away - enjoy!! Everything CAN wait. Really! And that blossom at the top of your blog is so welcome...Fletch just told me flurries are in our forecast for Sunday night!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with Justin! That extension looks very clever and probably would add to my to be read list!
ReplyDeleteI'm late in wishing you a calm and enjoyable time away. I hope you found relaxation and joy over your extended weekend. It's been a long time since I've looked at the tea aisle in the grocery, but I remember liking lemon zinger (?) and I still drink Zazo Lotus, which is very nice on ice.
ReplyDeleteI have always liked Good Earth tea, both the tea and the wisdom on the tags.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the recommendation; I'll have to look for some!
DeleteI hope your Justin Visit was just wonderful. I will show that app to my reader girl Al.
ReplyDeleteIm catching up on blogs. Im catching up on kitty love. We just returned from a week's vacation
Thank you; our visit was wonderful! I hope you had a great vacation and your re-entry into real life isn't too difficult.
DeleteMy FAVORITE tea (which includes inspiration on the tag) is Yogi Egyptian Licorice. They also make an Egyptian MINT Licorice which you might like. The local grocery stopped carrying it so now I order it online by the case!
