It was a low key weekend around here, but filled with lots of things that I enjoy.
I made some snickerdoodles in case Justin came home for a quick visit to the DMV since Chris Christie closed New Jersey last weekend.
Things didn't work out for a visit, but I have cookies safely tucked away in the freezer, ready for next time Justin is here.
My Stargazer lily buds made it safely through the weekend, uneaten by deer. (I'm knocking on wood as I type this).
My sister-in-law gave me a gift of five bulbs years ago, and I planted them under my kitchen windows where I can enjoy their beauty and heavenly scent. Deer have nipped off the ready-to-bloom bulbs the past couple of years, so I'm keeping fingers crossed this year.
We had some rain and thundershowers, some that managed to soak me during a walk on Saturday, but thankfully I didn't melt. :-) It was well worth it because they also produced a stunning rainbow in the east and a beautiful sky in the west as the showers cleared.
I'm taking these as auspicious signs for the coming week!
I am pretty sure if you leave an offering of Snickerdoodles, the deer might be persuaded to leave the lilies alone! And, those sky photos! Stunning!
ReplyDeleteI love snickerdoodles! The deer have left my lilies alone this year, but I've noticed them grazing on my neighbor's lilies! That rainbow is stunning!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Bonny! What a gorgeous rainbow...and gorgeous cookies - lol. Hope those deer stay away.
ReplyDeleteMy mom made the best snickerdoodles! And fingers crossed for your lilies. Doug's are just starting to bloom. Here's to a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteSnickerdoodles are my absolute favorite cookie; I must try your tip of only cinnamon-ing the tops :-) Sure hope the deer leave your lily blooms alone - your garden surely has plenty of other tempting options! and whoa - what a rainbow and a sky ... surely those are most auspicious signs for the week ahead. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteI love those sky photos, especially the rainbow! And now I want snickerdoodles.
ReplyDeleteOH dear. Now I want a snickerdoodle or three. Your lilies are lovely. And the rainbow.....just a lovely post
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Snickerdoodles are one of my FAVORITE cookies... and one which I've never baked (because that would be TROUBLE). I hope your week is as softly colored and beautiful as those photos.
ReplyDeleteI will gladly eat your cookies :) I hope he visits you soon so you can eat them together. Sounds like a restful weekend :)
ReplyDeleteYou can count me in the group who love snickerdoodles best of all cookies! I hope you have days and days of stargazer enjoyment and your week has been (will be) auspicious!
