I'm still reading The Dark Flood Rises this week. It's a good book, but I really only make the time to read it for half an hour or so at night, and that means the danger of falling asleep is always nearby. I finished listening to The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane a couple days ago; my review is here if you're interested. The real treat in reading this week is listening to Lincoln in the Bardo. I'm only about a third of the way through, but already know that George Saunders is a genius and the narration is equally brilliant.
In knitting, I regained some long-lost sock mojo to finish one of these socks and start the second. I had hoped to have the pair done by now, but maybe by the weekend? I do love the blue in this yarn and hope these will be comfortable walking socks.
Love the yarn for your socks - great blues in it. And your knitting bag looks great too - do tell... Glad I read your review of Tea Girl - think I'll skip that one. I have read another book by Lisa See, but the fact that I can't even remember the title says something.... The Dark Flood Rises looks very interesting - will be looking for your review of that!
ReplyDeleteI'm (still) knitting the Peace Cowl and reading and loving South of Broad.
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty knitting photo!! Love the colors and that you are back into the sock knitting. I am hoping to finish a book today and then I can start another one :)
ReplyDeleteLincoln in the Bardo... I am LOVING that book. I'm going to have to hold it in my hands at some point, though, and actually look at the pages. And probably listen to it (or at least parts of it) again.
ReplyDeleteYay socks!! I, too, love your knitting bag. ;)
I have Lincoln in my TBR queu. Your photo above is so calm - lovely
ReplyDeleteI am on the list for Lincoln in the Bardo! Hopefully soon! And, beautiful knitting!
ReplyDeleteLove those blue stripes!
ReplyDeleteSince I'm rather partial to blues I love your socks and the quilt. I'm still working through Kavalier and Clay (and loving it) and working a pair red/white/brown stripy socks.
ReplyDeleteAdore the blue striped socks.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Helen! I'm pretty partial to blue, and the stripes make me want to keep knitting.
DeleteI'm in the library's hold queue for Lincoln in the Bardo on audio and am really looking forward to getting to listen to it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to check it out soon. It's really as good as everyone says!
DeleteI'm sitting in my chair in a vegetative state most evenings right now. Work is relentless and only getting more so. I don't have much left at the end of the day right now! Though thank goodness I can still mix a decent cocktail! Love those socks!!!
ReplyDeleteI've also got the Saunders book to listen to. Congratulations on the sock mojo!
ReplyDeletegreat socks and truly awesome listen - hope you finish BOTH before the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading LitB right now, and loving it. I'm reading the print-version, and cannot imagine how anyone can narrate it!!! (Have you seen it in print?) I'm going to have to listen to the audio version now, too. Because the book must be pure magic -- any way you read it!
