My recent travels have taken me to Pennsylvania, which means that I need to cross the Delaware River when I leave New Jersey. There are several bridges I can choose from, but habit usually finds me traveling north in New Jersey, crossing the Milford bridge, but returning home on the Pennsylvania side across the Frenchtown bridge. I switched things around this week, and it really made me take a good look at both sides.

I've driven this route literally hundreds of times over more than 40 years, but on this trip I'm glad I took the time to notice things. It's good to really see both sides.
I've got Joni Mitchell in my head now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool change in perspective! and some very interesting engineering and architecture - great post!
ReplyDeleteI think people don't realize that the Delaware River can be really scenic. Thanks for sharing these great pictures!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing these pictures. My Dad's family lived in the tri-states area on the Delaware (Matamoras, PA-Port Jervis, NY) and I grew up not very far from there. The upper Delaware is beautiful and remind me of home.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Bonny! I love stopping along very familiar routes and finding a new perspective! Now, I am wishing Pittsburgh was closer!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I love that area of the Delaware River. The ice on the rocks - love (though I am ready for winter to be gone...).
ReplyDeleteThank you for being a great tour guide to an area of the country I've never visited.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and you are hitting your stride with your posts and writing :) I'm enjoying your ideas and photography!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Bucks County and your pictorial took me right back home. A beautiful piece of the planet.
ReplyDeleteIt's always great to see the same old things with new eyes. When I do this, I always notice things that I have never noticed before. And, it is good for your brain to think in a new way!
ReplyDeleteThank you! You are right about seeing with new eyes, and I was glad I had some extra time to spend taking a good look and seeing so much that was new to me. It was a cold day with flurries and strong winds, but I had a great time!
DeleteI am reminded of one of the strategies that I used when I quit smoking. The drive home after work was always a trigger, and I'd read that changing up the regular route would help to occupy/distract the mind as I navigated through less familiar territory. And apparently it worked, as I'm closing in on 12 years this month!
ReplyDeleteI love bridges with personality! The pictures are great! I always drive into work one way and back home another. Crazy hurry in...easy relax out. That's a great part of the world.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Bonny! Love to see your view - thanks for sharing. And . . . here's to mixing things up. It's good for the soul. XO
