I suspect my younger (girl) cousins got most of the handmade clothes because I inherited all her patterns and I think there were lots more patterns than I remember dresses! I'm sure your grandmother knew exactly how much you loved every single piece she sewed for you - the photos prove it!Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07047968915708927082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5141954207305878743.post-69534964966915634832017-05-19T17:01:38.046-04:002017-05-19T17:01:38.046-04:00Great pictures Bonny and wonderful outfits. It makes me remember how lovingly my mother made all my clothes, took me with her to the fabric store, and let me pick out what I wanted with just a little guidance. It must have taken restraint not to tell me to pick something else! I had a quilt top of scraps of all the clothes she had made for me over the years, but somehow it got lost in a move. I was sad about that, but I still remember all those clothes without the quilt top. When I look at black and white pictures of me as a child, I know exactly what color that dress was and what it looked like! becksterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02147945810663254093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5141954207305878743.post-72880774764433701892017-05-19T13:44:25.950-04:002017-05-19T13:44:25.950-04:00Thank you, Helen! My mother sewed as much of our clothing as she possibly could. She had 4 girls to outfit and it was a full time job. I had many of the same pieces you did...corduroy pants, overalls, and jumpers (corduroy is still one of my favorite fabrics), flannel nightgowns, halloween costumes and so much more. Your grandmother added chicness and style! Sadly I was the kind of kid who was always crying because the clothes were too picky (itchy).
