I’m happy to join Kat and the Unravelers today with my last (for a little while anyway) dishtowel finally completed!
If I’m honest, I wrote that first sentence on Monday to motivate myself to finish it by today, and knit like the wind yesterday to get it done. This one is for Jess for Christmas. I may dig through my stash to see if I have enough cotton yarn to cast on another dishtowel for Jess, but that can wait until after the wedding. My gift pile continues to grow!
I'm taking a little break from dish towels to work on my colorful Hitchhiker. I've knit in lots of places, including my mother's viewing, memorial services for both my MiL and my FiL, and my father's funeral, but I don't think I've ever knit at a really joyous occasion like a wedding. I might try to get in a few rows at the rehearsal, if only so I can say that I've done it!
What are you making this Wednesday in October?

As long as the couple doesn't object, I vote for knitting at the wedding! The latest dishcloth looks great, and I continue to be amazed by the hat. I'm moving onto the sleeves of my sweater and working on yet another charity hat.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of knitting at a wedding! Brilliant idea! Your stack of dish towels is quite impressive! I will be sending all the good thoughts your way this weekend! May the weekend be overflowing with love and joy! XO
ReplyDeleteI love that color. First picture of it looked turquoise, but it is obviously teal. This dishtowel looks so much thicker than the ones below it. Did you change yarns? You have knit in a lot of places, Bonny. I once knit in an administrative staff meeting (I was the only woman), and I thought I might get backlash, but all the men were fascinated and had lots of questions. You never know how people are going to react. That gift pile is looking really good, and it's not even Halloween yet!
ReplyDeleteI KNIT AT MY OWN WEDDING! Not during the ceremony, obviously, but after... at the "reception," which was just a potluck at our house, but still.
ReplyDeleteThat stack o'towels is a sight to behold, Bonny! What a great whack of knitting you've accomplished over the last few months. And that hat!!!!! LOVE. I rarely knit anywhere other than at home (I'm just too easily distracted, I'm afraid). . . but I never mind seeing other people knitting in public/at events. I hope your wedding-knitting soothes any jitters or irritations you may have about the day, and keeps you calm, cool, and collected! XO
ReplyDeleteThat's one amazing pile of work! I can't say I knit at the event but I did knit like crazy to get Daughter's wedding shawl finished by her shower. I did many a late night session after I had to rip half of it back.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Initially I was disappointed that my son's fiancee wasn't interested in having me knit a wedding shawl for her, but ultimately I think it was for the best.
DeleteYour dish towels are gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteA couple of weeks ago I attended my niece's wedding, but was kept so busy helping my sister and the new inlaws decorating the church and reception hall that I didn't have time to knit ! I hope you have a wonderful time this weekend!
Thank you, Debbie! Wishing your niece and her family every happiness!
DeleteWow - those dish towels look so nice. They are great colors look like they will work hard to absorb water. And it bears repeating that the hat is so handsome. Have a very happy weekend. I hope you have time to put in a few stitches - if even at the end of the day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful stack of dishtowels, you get a huge gold star for fortitude and creativity on these! Have so much fun at the wedding this weekend!
