Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, with a quick recap of my year in knitting. I am not an especially adventurous knitter, nor a fast one, so I only completed 13 projects this year.
There were two hats, one pair of adult socks, two pairs of baby socks, one baby blanket, a pair of fingerless gloves, a large assortment of F**K 2020 and WTF dishcloths for friends and family members, and three Hitchhikers:
I knit the Hitchhikers for myself, and as Jane has said so well, the yarn stretched westward towards Colorado while I was missing Ryan. All three of the yarns were gifts from him, so it helped me in some way to be knitting with yarn from him even if I couldn't visit him at all during the year.
The rest of the items that I knit were for friends and family members, and it cheered me to see the enthusiastic response to the F**K 2020 dishcloths and think about the new baby born during the pandemic with his toes being kept warm by bright blue socks and wrapped up cozily in a feather and fan blanket.
I don't have any big knitting plans for 2021, but I do have a hat on the needles, and of course, there are also at least two more Hitchhikers in progress and one in the planning stage. Knitting has kept me focused and comforted during this wild and awful year, and I hope for more of the same in 2021.
But these dishcloths still express my feelings about this year better than anything else.
How was your knitting this year?
That's some great knitting and I'll admit I particularly love those dishcloths!
ReplyDeleteThose Hitchhikers! My favorite might just be that stripey one! Gorgeous one and all though!
ReplyDelete(and I am with you on your 2020 Dishcloth sentiments!) Is there a "don't let the door hit your @ss dishcloth??
My knitting this year has been pitiful. I have immersed myself in reading to escape 2020, and it was a pretty good strategy for me. I do have an oversize cardigan on the needles, and I need to get back to it now that it is cold enough to have it in my lap. I think you had a fabulous knitting year, Bonny. Lots of projects, some generous gift-giving knitting, and comfort knitting as well. You should be pleased with yourself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely year of knitting and a nice recap Bonny! Your Hitchhikers really are so gorgeous. I'm in the midst of knitting another Antler Hat - this one for a girl friend. I have bags of Christmas and birthday presents for her and will just add in the hat (and perhaps a pair of fingerless mitts) - I don't think we will be getting together soon!
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of you, Bonny, I think of you with a Hitchhiker in progress in your hands. You do such a lovely job with them, and you inspired me to knit my first (of, I predict, many). I agree that your dishcloths are the most representative project of this year, and I hope that we can wash away the bad of this year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great year of knitting, Bonny! I don't know how I'd make it through ANY rough patch without knitting in my hands. And I just love the image Jane has conjured with the yarn stretching across the map to those we love. It warms my heart! Here's to another great year of knitting coming up in 2021. XO
ReplyDeleteI'd say you had a very productive year! I went back and counted and I've only got 6 completed projects for the year but that's fine. I'm especially fond of that striped hitchhiker as well. Here's to 2021 my friend...and if it comes to it we may REALLY be driving! xo
ReplyDeleteI love all three of those Hitchhikers -- and how they connect you with Ryan!
ReplyDeleteI loved your dishcloths!
ReplyDeletelove your hitchhikers and wash cloths it was a nice year! I enjoyed your year of knitting!
ReplyDeleteI knit so many of those dish cloths. People would be surprised when I gave them one, not realizing what was on it...and then they would see it! And they LOVED them! Had many requests!
ReplyDeleteKnitting those dishcloths helped me, and the people I gave them to also loved them. They were a big hit!
DeleteI love your shawls. And the dishcloths! I hope my comment didn't come as anonymous. Im trying to thank each blogger I connect with for your honestly and work of blogging all year // It is hard work and we are all so set on bringing a good post with good photos to our community. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteKnitting for sure kept me sane (ish?!) this year! I am still in awe of your Hitchhiker prowess (and still have yet to knit my first one) and love that you were able to share your true 2020 sentiments through those dishcloths :-)
ReplyDeleteAwwesome dishcloths! And youve reminded me I have a hitchhiker on some needles somewhere, I wonder if I can find it and complete it this year ?
ReplyDeleteWishing you and all your family a very happy and peaceful New Year, Jillxx
You accomplished so much! Your Hitchhikers are great and so wearable. I need to consider that pattern as they look so wrappable and wearable. Just my thing! I need to knit more this year just to prove (to myself) that I am a knitter!
