But humor is often a good way to deal with the fear and uncertainty, so here are three things I've come across recently (plus a bonus).
- I feel for most scientists in this age of "alternative facts".
- A priest in Michigan delivers holy water by thinking outside the box.
- This is not exactly humorous, but certainly illustrates both ends of the spectrum.
- And a bonus Venn diagram, showing that most reasonable, thinking adults can understand more than one option simultaneously.
What three things (or even one!) are you thinking about this Thursday?
Be sure to visit Carole for more Three on Thursday thoughts.
I think all of these are spot-on, Bonny. I especially think the sign about Flint, MI, as opposed to haircuts illustrates some people's inability to see the inequality in our society. And the water gun made me laugh! I hope you have a good Thursday and avoid thinking about coronavirus for a few hours - it's difficult!
ReplyDeleteWhat makes me more rage-y than anything is the people protesting the lockdowns and other safety measures. They think there's nothing wrong with denying someone service in a store because of who they love, but asking them to wear a mask to protect others is a violation of their freedom? Argh! They are so selfish it makes me sick.
ReplyDeleteI am dying at that squirt gun toting priest! Just when I thought I'd seen it all, nope... there is a new level of ridiculousness! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Yes to all of these but particularly that last one. As someone tasked with making decisions that weigh safety of workers and the public alongside doing good for the economy, I find myself feeling like I'm making it up as I go along.
ReplyDeleteThese are all great Bonny (especially the last!). But the water pistol priest is priceless!!
ReplyDeleteThese are great! Love the priest and that last one is spot on.
ReplyDeleteThat Venn diagram is ME. Thanks for all three of these Bonny.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely all of these!! I saw that priest photo a few days ago and just about died... wondering what in the world my grandparents would think!
ReplyDeleteYES! The little girl in Flint just breaks my heart! American's are so selfish. IMO.
ReplyDeleteOur friends (two couples) are going to dinner on Tuesday-together! They invited us and I said, um, NO! I'll do takeout and we can sit 8' apart-that's it.
These are great - with the Flint one being sadly so. We really are a shallow bunch. Thanks for the laughs!
ReplyDeleteAs a former science teacher, I LOVE the note from climate scientists to epidemiologists. So true! And put me with you in the Venn diagram.
ReplyDeleteyears ago we had a jesuit priest substitute our Easter Masses and he baptized the congregation with a super soaker (I missed this because I was out of town!) Needless to say MOST of the people attending did not like it and complained to the bishop. He was before his time. I like the venn diagram the bestest.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there in the Venn diagram with you, Bonny. Thanks so much for the humor and reasonable-ness! And thanks most of all for the Flint water crisis reminder. Because we just have to keep putting that out there. XO
ReplyDeleteI love the note from the climate scientists to the epidemiologists. So sad but true. And the Venn diagram is perfect.
