I got home from Colorado late Friday night, and mowed the lawn in NJ first thing Saturday during a two-hour window when it wasn't raining. It usually takes me about an hour and a half with a push mower, but it is good exercise (and then there is that beer afterwards). Then it was time to pack some things, drive down to MD, and mow the lawn down here.
It poured on Sunday and Monday so that meant mowing had to happen this morning. Those two extra rainy days, plus more than a week's worth of growth made this a daunting task. If I had a tractor, the grass could have been baled rather than mowed. Halfway through, I started thinking this might be a two beer job.
And it was.
Ha! Good for you on both counts - beer and yarn! Looking forward to seeing what you bought at the Loopy.
ReplyDeleteTwo lawns mowed ....you DESERVED those beers! Good choice too!!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about your trip to Loopy Ewe.
I don't have the excuse of two lawns to mow... only one, but I can relate! Looking forward to hearing all about your visit to Colorado!
ReplyDeleteI'm certain you deserved two beers! And I'm also looking forward to hearing all about CO!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to mow 2 lawns in 2 days, I would need more than 2 beers! That's a lot of work. How long does it take you to get from NJ to MD? Not long, I hope. I am looking forward to coveting whatever you bought, as you well know!
ReplyDeleteLawn mowing in August is such a challenge... we are getting so much rain that the grass (weeds??) are growing at an astronomical pace requiring mowing more than once a week to prevent the need for a lawn baler!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to hearing about your Colorado trip and the treats you got!
I remember my dad enjoying a beer (or two) after mowing the lawn on a Saturday afternoon... me - I've never been behind a lawn mower. but I do enjoy a beer (just one) to kick off my weekend. When I take Holly out for her Friday afternoon walk, I almost always do it with a beer. Looking forward to hearing about your trip ... and your TLE purchases!
ReplyDeleteah, living at two places!! I hope all went well for your son and you bought loads of yarn while visiting. I can't drink because of my meds but I remember my beer days fondly :)
ReplyDeleteI have never ever mowed a lawn - isn't that terrible? You definitely earned those two beers!
ReplyDeleteI used to mow my lawn and enjoy a beer after, but my lawn mower broke two years ago. At the time, my brother convinced me to hire a lawn mowing company and I am very happy to have them mow my lawn...but I still enjoy a beer on the patio on a hot day after the guys have mowed! I'm looking forward to hear about your trip and your new yarn!
ReplyDeleteSeeing how tall your grass grew one can see it's a two beer job! Taking care of two houses and yards would be a little daunting and you certainly deserve an extra beer (or more yarn) or anything else you desire!
ReplyDeleteI can’t help commenting, even though it is two days past this article, that my Hubby when mowing using a walking mower, would always evaluate a yard by the number of beers it took to mow the entire yard - but this was 30 years ago in a much cooler time.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, now he has a riding mower in a much hotter decade and only drinks water - but then he has a distance meter on the mower and can see how many miles he went - tit for tat?
What a great measuring method! We debated getting a riding mower, but with (hopefully) only 6 weeks or so left in the mowing season, it seems like an unnecessary large expense, and I'm not sure I want to switch to only water. :-)
