I've been running across some good quotes recently, so I'm sharing a few with you for Three on Thursday (along with three bonus rainbows).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you mad. ~ Aldous Huxley
(Sometimes I wonder if he meant mad as in angry or mad insane, but both work.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How I wish that somewhere there existed an island for those who are wise and of good will. ~ Albert Einstein
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No matter how huge your loss, as long as you remain engaged with your life, the best days of your life may still be ahead of you.
Don’t misunderstand me: the pain of your loss will remain with you for the rest of your life. But great joy will be there right beside it.
Deep sorrow and deep joy can exist within you, side by side. At every moment. And it’s not confusing. And it’s not a conflict.
~ Augusten Burroughs

I especially love the last quote, Augusten Burroughs was indeed a wise man.
ReplyDeleteWonderful quotes, Bonny! :-) I "collect" quotes -- and have them scribbled willy-nilly in a journal/notebook (that actually includes more post-it notes and scraps of paper than actual written-down quotes, if I'm honest). How to you keep track of quotes you've found? Enquiring minds want to know. . .
ReplyDeleteI love all those quotes very much! Thank you for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteThose are all good quotes, but I have to say the last one is the most meaningful for me, because I have found it to be 100% true.
ReplyDeleteOh my... aren't those TRUTH! Thank you for sharing. Augusten Burroughs' rings so deep and true.
ReplyDeleteThe last quote is so true and I thank you for posting it.
ReplyDeleteThe quote that sticks with me is .......it is what it is.
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes, Bonny. I collect quotes myself, and here are a few of my faves that ring true to me.
ReplyDeleteLife is not safe and nothing can make it so, neither fashionable dresses or bank accounts. The baseline of life is courage. Paulette Jiles
They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for. Tom Bodett
You’re wishin’ too much, baby. You gotta stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone oughtta be. Elizabeth Gilbert
“Love is not changed by death and nothing is lost, and all in the end is harvest.” Julian of Norwich
I don't think I've heard any of these before, and the first and third ones are just what I need today. I've written them all carefully into my quote notebook to add to my collection. These are wonderful, and I thank you so much for sharing, Becky!
DeleteLove the Aldous Huxley quote!
ReplyDeleteI love that last quote and feel blessed to pretty much be able to live in that thought process. xo
ReplyDeleteThese are so good bonny! As others have said, the last quote is so, so true. Painfully true at times. But I really LOVE the first quote. Like Kym, I keep (or used to keep - I have no idea what became of it)a journal type book filled with quotes that meant something to me. I need/want to start doing that again. Sorry I can't think of any off the top of my head.
ReplyDeleteThe three rainbows are wonderful too - thanks for sharing.
That last quote is so encouraging! I love it. As I grieve I also find joy in my mom's memories.
ReplyDeleteA quote: The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything....Theodore Roosevelt
That Augusten Burroughs quote seems to speak to everyone, and Teddy Roosevelt also knew what he was talking about. Thanks for sharing!
DeleteYour quotes still speak.
ReplyDeleteI like:
This, too, shall pass.
When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves. ~Victor Frankl
and this quite appropriate today:
bout Ransome's mother: "She would never read aloud to us a book that she did not enjoy reading herself....Any book worth reading by children is also worth reading by grown-up persons." Arthur Ransome
Great quotes, all three, but the Augusten Burroughs is my favorite of the groupl
