Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday.
I finally finished the Frostbite Fighter cowl! Just in time because I was getting a little tired of stockinette and ribbing. Since Justin won't be home for a while, I had to recruit another model.
I think Snuggle would give it a thumbs up if he had thumbs.
That means I can now work monogamously on this.
Because that photo doesn't show the gradient very well, here's a less picturesque view of the back of the house. The gradient is still much nicer in real life.
It seems like I can only focus on one thing at a time, so reading has taken a back seat to knitting. I did start The Book of Lost Things. It's decent so far, but it reminds me a lot of Inkheart. I'll have to listen more to see if it's really as similar as I think.
What are you making and reading this week?
I think Justin might need to plan a quick trip home before Snuggle decides to keep that cowl! and is that an open window I spy in the last photo? I think you sky blue Hitchhiker is bringing spring with it!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on my sweater - finally finished the sleeves and started the body! Hooray! And reading The Immortalists.
ReplyDeletethat gradient is mighty fine if you ask me, I wish I could see it in person :) yay for finishing a project too.
ReplyDeleteHurray for finished cowls! (That looks like a Really Useful Cowl. I'll bet Justin will appreciate the warmth.) I, too, spied that open window -- which makes my heart happy. (Spring may be fickle, but she's on her way.) I love the blue - and the gradient looks lovely; a sort of slowly meandering sort of change. I'm stuck in a bit of a holding pattern with my own knitting, and I'm reading The Dark Flood Rises. XO
ReplyDeleteLovely finish and I agree with Mary that Justin had best claim that cowl quickly before Snuggle takes it for his own! I imagine it did become tiresome to knit...but it turned out so well - congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYour blue Hitchhiker looks gorgeous! Love your open window too. When I got home yesterday Fletch had our sliding door to the patio open - and it was warmer outside than in! Bedroom windows are open and I'm loving the fresh air.
Like you, I have not been reading much...still making my way through The Woman Who Smashed Codes which is so good!
Snuggle bear might not be willing to give Justin his cowl. LOL
ReplyDeleteHurrah for that finished cowl! But, I am chuckling at your most ingenious photo shoot of your Hitchhiker! And, bravo for open windows in February! It does a body good!
ReplyDeleteThe cowl will be perfect and could be put to use here today as it is 13, right now! What a rude awakening to winter (better late than never?)! I am excited to see your your bluetiful Hitchhiker nearing the finish!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Justin will like that cowl! Your hitchhiker looks so pretty and the color reminds me of spring...I noticed that open window too! I opened a window yesterday, but it is only in the 30s today. I recently finished reading Pachinko, which I really enjoyed. I'm now reading Over the Plain Houses and I'm not sure what I think of it yet.
ReplyDeleteIm knit knit knitting and I may have to knit a cowl like yours. Adorbs! For know, socks socks socks.
ReplyDeleteI certainly don't need a cowl in our current very warm temperatures, but I've been thinking about knitting one for myself (after my hitchhiker is done)!
DeleteI would love a cowl like that, so you may have to write down some rudimentary instructions. It looks great, and I bet it is warm, very warm. Yesterday I had the patio door open all day, it was 75! It was a lovely peek of what is to come, but not yet! Today, the temps have dived about 35 degrees, and four days of a cold rain has set in, and they say we will get about 6.5 inches by Saturday. Glad I live on a hill! I just finished Jane Harper's new mystery, which I liked a lot, and my knitting has been suffering from all my reading. Spring is coming, Bonny, we have had proof, so let's just hang on a bit longer and dream of little green things poking up out of the ground in a warm breeze.
ReplyDeleteYou don't even have to rely on my rudimentary instructions; it's a free pattern on ravelry! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sockhead-cowl
DeleteI did try it on, and it's warm and practical, so I may make one for myself for next winter. It's 72 here now and I have all the windows open. While I do enjoy the warmth of spring, this seems like too much in February. But like your weather, we're back to the 40s and rain tomorrow, so it is just a brief preview of spring and those hopeful little green things growing. Hope you can stay high and dry!
Thanks, Bonny!
DeleteYahoo!! Oh, man, I can't wait to open a window! It was this time last year (according to my FB memories) that we had freakishly warm weather and Junah said, "You can try!" and I went down the slide a few times!! I just soaked & laid out my Habu sweater, having finally sewn it up approx. 9 years after knitting all the pieces! Next up, three buttons/buttonholes and FINI!! I started listening to "Sing, Unburied, Sing" this week.
ReplyDeleteYou were able to open windows?!! Well I mean I can open them but they would let in sleet and cold. The cowl looks great. The color is so pretty but definitely will suit a guy. Keep on keeping on with that shawl. I love blues and this yarn is terrific.
