I planted some lantana. The way the flower clusters (technically umbrels) have different colored florets is beautifully fascinating to me. Now I'm wondering if I have room to plant more.
I also picked a pitiful portion of snow peas. I don't know if the weather was against us, the seeds were old, or if we angered the pea pod gods, but our pea germination was very spotty and this is all we've got to show for it. There may be afew very few more next week, but I guess some peas are better than none.
Spinach is plentiful in the garden, so I picked a big bunch and made this spinach salad. It doesn't look like my career as a food stylist and photographer will be taking off any time soon, but the salad (and accompanying dressing) is very good.
I chatted with Justin via Messenger. It's wonderful to talk with him, but it wasn't really the kind of conversation that reassures a mother. I guess I should be glad that he tells me what he's doing, even if it makes me want to yell, "BE CAREFUL AND GET AWAY FROM THOSE THINGS IMMEDIATELY!"
I hope your weekend had some interesting bits and pieces, minus rattlesnakes and tarantulas.

I love lantana - one of the few things I've planted in the ground that's still alive here! ...and I have to say, that's a text conversation I NEVER expect to have - and an emoji I NEVER expect to use :-) Still - it looks like a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love those flowers! And, yes, I would be yelling the exact same thing. Thankfully, our weekend here was sans rattlesnakes and tarantulas!
ReplyDeleteWeeding the garden...and weeding again. I've picked peas until I never want to see another! LOL Your salad looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Justin is taming the wild west! The thought of both of them makes me shiver! (Though I think I can handle the rattler over the spider.) That lantana is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLantanas are one of my favorites - yours look very happy!
ReplyDeleteTarantula AND rattlesnake? I would be gone. And as a mom, I would be panicking. But you have to let them enjoy the experience! Such pretty flowers.
ReplyDeleteOh my, yes! I've had the same thought upon receiving certain messages from my kids -- photo of Maddy atop McAfee Knob on the Appalachian Trail comes to mind. Wanting to shout: "GET DOWN FROM THERE THIS INSTANT! AND BE CAREFUL!!" Haha, also completely stunned and in awe of her daring-do. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you shared the photo of the lantana and not the spider and rattlesnake!
ReplyDeletelet's face it, you will be worrying about him until he moves back!! But I love how confident he sounds and it seems you raised him well and I think he will be safe :) Crazy texts!!!
