Two of my orchids have flower spikes!
They are certainly not much to look at now, but in about a month or so, I'll (hopefully) have some blooming orchids. What a lovely reward after a long winter!

Anticipation
I have a thing for these little orchids from the grocery store, especially if they're half-price. Who could resist cheery little flowers on the kitchen windowsill? Not me, since I've brought home four of them over the past several years. While exchanging the draft-blocking kitchen curtains for the spring ones that let in all the light, I cleaned the windowsills and noticed something exciting...

ReplyDeleteMe too! I have 9 orchids in the bay window, 7 of which are either in bloom or have spikes with buds. All but one are grocery store orchids - only one of them is new, the others are all re-bloomers. It's so exciting to see them bloom again, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteCheryl and her mother have the best looking orchids I've seen outside a green house. I've heard orchids thrive on neglect and light. Enjoy the anticipation. It will surely be worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE orchids!!! I've had several over the years, and until this last winter, I've never had success with the re-blooming part. So cool! Can't wait to see yours go to town!!!
